The Chambers Family Camping Adventure 2001
Welcome family and friends!
We had a great time on our recent camping trip (a first for 3 out of
4 of us), so we thought we'd share some photos and experiences with you.
Send us e-mail and let us know
what you think.

July 1:
We departed
a day early, just because we could. Once again, our "little car that
could" is loaded to the max. Henry replaced the starter yesterday,
and we are anxiously keeping an ear on a noise in the transmission.
But, nothing risked, nothing gained! We made it fine, although that
last 1.4 miles down the mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway was
quite something. Click for pictures at
the campground.

July 2: Natural Bridge, VA - it's worth a visit! Click

July 3: Henry's birthday, celebrated as usual with 4th of July festivities.
First we went to Crabtree Falls, about 7 miles from our campsite - the
highest falls in the East! Click for pictures

July 4: The plan was to head down to see Lin's cousins, Amy &
Matt, and their baby, Libbey, this day (Hi guys!). But unfortunately
they picked up a stomach bug. So, we turned around and headed to
Uncle Jim's house on the mountain instead. Here Lexi met Jim's two
dogs, and we had a great time watching the fireworks from the golf course
in Staunton. This is the second time we have planned but failed to
visit Monticello. We'll get there eventually! Click
for pictures.

July 5: Eating day: breakfast at Cracker Barrel, dinner (to
celebrate Henry's birthday) at The Outback. What more can we say?
Lauren also had her first experience catching fireflies, and we went for
a short hike to view Natural Chimneys, near Bridgewater, VA. The
highlight of that was picking berries.
