April 6

The day started well, with a herd of deer grazing behind our cabin. If you visit the Grand Canyon, we recommend Yavapai Lodge. It seems to be out of the main tourist area, and thus much more quiet - for humans and animals.

Our first objective for the day was Hoover Dam. Well, this is all we saw. Turns out it's a prime tourist attraction, and it was FULL! No place to park, and no real place to turn around. A very windy and congested road through a serious canyon. I took some more photos with the regular camera. The digital takes too long when the car is moving! There was actually a very pretty view of Lake Mead from the Nevada side; but the photo was seriously blurred. The Arizona side is so desolate it's hard to believe they call it a National Recreation Area. I would not want to get out of the car there!

We'll likely take some Vegas photos tomorrow.
