April 9

Our first stop of the day was at an Overlook on I-70 in the middle of Utah. Incredible scenery!

This is Henry taking a photo into the sun, while I take a photo the other direction. This is at the end of about a 1-mile hike, for which Lauren mostly led the way. She had energy after the long drive through the desert!

This is one of the major arches. Part of it collapsed in 1991. It's been fenced off since; but the ranger's pool for date of total collapse is still running.

The arch from a distance.

Posing under a juniper tree trunk.

Hiking back from the Arch.

Lauren ran a lot of the way on this hike. It was really windy, so part way the wind made her fly.

The ranger talk took us to Double Arch, where there are lots of arches. Impressive. We saw a deer and learned lots about desert plants.
