AS COMPETITION INCREASES...
VISIBILITY DECREASES |
|
| |
In today's scenario, the natural products marketer must develop a strategic integrated program.

All of these programs must work together, be integrated and managed, they must support each other working in unison. |
|
|

Once it was okay to develop a sell sheet that doubled as an ad, a label, and a brochure to rollout a product. Today, the marketplace demands more, as competition increases visibility decreases.

Are you one of many me-to-brands (a commodity) or a unique stand-alone formula or brand that articulates its features and benefits, creating perceived value and benefits in the buyer's mind.

In today's scenario, the natural products marketeer must develop a strategic integrated program that includes: competitive analysis and review, new product rollout, product branding/packaging, in-store merchandising, sales promotion and discounting programs, media advertising development and placement, distributor advertising to reach retailers, public-relations for trade and consumer segments coupled with retailer training and consumer education, trade show coordination and presence as well as direct marketing. And that's just to start.

All of these programs must work together, be integrated and managed, they all must support each other working in unison. |

THE HOLMES ORGANIZATION
FOUNDED IN 1972 |
|
| |
Billings of more than 10 million and the staff of 17 with international offices in Beijing, China. |
|
|

Specializing in marketing, advertising and public relations. The firm grew and grew with offices over the bay in Newport Beach, California with billings of more than 10 million and a staff of 17 with international offices in Beijing China.

After several years the contemplation and many hours with the accountants, it became obvious that the "traditional advertising agency relationship" won't work in the "natural industry", with few exceptions, i.e. larger companies with multiple brands operating in many markets. Procter and Gamble for instance, employs many agencies to handle its business in many markets.

P&G needs a big agency with bricks and mortar to market its many brands. Frankly, many of the firm's we talk to or work with don't. |

Somebody pays that overhead-It's You. |

Annual staff salaries can run:
 |
| |
|
Senior account person |
$100,000 + |
| |
|
Creative director |
$150-250,000 |
| |
|
Art Director |
$60-100,000 |
| |
|
Copywriter |
$50-70,000 |
| |
|
Senior public relations |
$80-150,000 |
| |

Note: Add 40 percent to these salaries for perks and benefits, plus the cost of the real-estate they occupy including the common areas, to find the real cost. You'll be surprised. |

One must have many clients to run a successful agency today. |
|
|

In a traditional advertising agency you may pay a monthly service fee plus additional fees, for all development and creative costs associated with the production of marketing and advertising materials. Plus all buyouts i.e. photography, printing, research, etc., these costs are normally marked up 15-20%, Any media purchased on a clients be-half is usually marked up 17.65%, do the math.

One must have many clients to run a successful agency today. That doesn't work because each client wants and should have senior management attention. With many clients it simply isn't possible. Also, the agency must earn media commissions with billings in the millions to succeed.

In the natural products industry this simply won't work. I know, I've done it for the past 30 years. Something must suffer and it's usually the client's budget and quality of work produced or the agencies bottom-line. |

CLIENTS OFTEN DESCRIBE US
AS THEIR VIRTUAL MARKETING DIRECTOR |
|
| |
Strategic planning, marketing, advertising development, execution and placement, brand development, execution and final production management. Public relations, for both trade and consumer segments.

Best of all there are no markups and all commissions earned are rebated back to the client. We work on a full-disclosure basis.

This subtle shift changes the relationship from a vendor with vested interests to a team member with common goals. |
|
|

Here's how it works best: we prefer to work on a flat monthly fee which includes: strategic planning, marketing, advertising development, execution and placement, brand development, execution and final product production management. Public relations, for both trade and consumer segments are also included. Complete market management.

Out-of-pocket costs and keyboard-production time are billed separately.

Best of all, there are no markups and all commissions earned are rebated back to the client. We work on a full-disclosure basis.

It's simple: if we meet or exceed our goals and we almost always do,there is a mutually agreeable incentive. Our interest is in your bottom line.

For a company that wants to build a brand, we think our program works best. We have no vested interests in selling the next ad campaign and brochure, or running up the clock on needed revisions. This subtle shift changes our relationship from a vendor with vested interests to a team member with common goals.
