The Treasure Box is a monthly program that supplies 22 to 27 pounds of frozen food -- enough to feed a family of four for
about a week, or a senior citizen for almost a month. Each box contains 10 to 12 pounds of proteins -- beef, chicken, pork, or seafood -- and
also vegetables, fruit, a side dish, and a dessert. In this way, you can buy a box containing $75 to $100 of food (at the
prices you'd be likely to pay in a grocery store) for $30. There is no limit to the number of boxes you can order; just be sure
you have the freezer space! The boxes, shipped in a refrigerated truck, go to a nearby distribution point, where volunteers
from our church pick them up, and bring them to our location, so that those who have ordered can pick up their food. Typically,
distribution day is the last Saturday of the month.
Typical contents of a food box and additional information is available at the Treasure Box
website.
