SKIING: The best skiing in the nation is the Rockies where 8 major ski areas are within easy driving distance for the San Luis valley. Ski the Continental Divide at Wolf Creek which has the most snow of any Colorado ski area. In addition, nearby are Monarch, Crested Butte, and Ski Cooper. In nearby New Mexico, there are 4 more ski areas. Angel Fire, Red River, Sipapu, and the famed Taos Ski Valley. Other activities closer to the property include cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
VALLEY VIEW HOT SPRINGS: On the western slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is a natural setting for soaking, swimming, and camping. Four natural ponds with water temperatures varying from 80 to 98 degrees, a hot tub and a wood burning sauna with a small pool inside welcome bathers.
JOYFUL JOURNEY HOT SPRINGS: Surrounded by streams, hiking trails, and the San Luis Valley, these natural geothermal springs are a nurturing and relaxing retreat. The hot springs are kept 98 to 108 degrees and are rich in minerals. In addition, several spa treatments are available.
GREAT SAND DUNES NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE: Visit one of the most remarkable landscape features in the San Luis Valley. The park contains the highest dunes in the U.S.! The campground and interpretive center lets you stay awhile, hike the dunes and learn about the diverse ecosystem.
ZATATA FALLS: Take a short, steep hike to one of the impressive natural falls on Zatata Creek. View the immense San Luis Valley while enjoying a nice picnic.
SAN DUNES SWIMMING POOL: Also known as the historic Hooper Pool, this huge hot springs pool overlooks the Sangre de Cristo peaks and offers a huge pool with low and high diving boards, a kiddy pool, and a adult therapy pool. RV sites are also available. This pool is just a few miles from the property!
BLANCA WETLANDS: Blanca Wetlands provides the opportunity for hiking, hunting and fishing. Hunters may seek waterfowl, rabbits, ad other game species within the established seasons. Cold water ponds support trout and warm water ponds support bass and blue gill for the enjoyment of anglers.
SAN LUIS LAKES STATE PARK AND WILDLIFE AREA: This Lake has a picnic area, modern campground, nature trails, boating, and fishing, all with secular views of the towering mountain peaks and sand dunes.
