Disaster Planning for Your Pet

The Humane Society of Jamestown has initiated a pet identification program that will help reunite pet guardians with their pets when separated as a result of a natural disaster.  Everyone has read or heard of the trauma and suffering that was experienced by both pets and their guardians as a result of Hurricane Katrina.   One of the ways to reduce the suffering is to try to reunite the pet and guardian as quickly as possible.  To that end, the Humane Society of Jamestown is delighted to have the support of Police Chief Thomas Tighe, Director of Jamestown Emergency Management Agency, in providing Jamestown residents an opportunity to become a part of this pet identification data base.
