SPCE Charter

The Signal Processing and Communication Electronics committee (SPCE) sponsors papers, participates in the organization of conferences, and promotes technical workshops on those aspects of communications that pertain to the innovation, development and application of algorithms and electronic and photonic devices or subsystems for generation, processing, storage, transmission, recovery, and presentation of communications signals. In so doing, the committee also has as a goal the professional development of committee members and other practitioners that work in the above areas.

In fulfilling its charter, emphasis is placed on the underlying structure of algorithms and architectures that are required to implement theoretical concepts. Special significance is generally placed on the description of hardware - devices, circuits, integrated circuits and systems - and on the relationship of performance to economic and technological constraints of hardware in its application to communication theory.

Quality manuscripts and other presentations which elucidate these topics are solicited for workshops, conferences (in particular GLOBECOM and ICC), journals (i.e. IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE JSAC, IEEE Trans. on Communications, and others), and Section or Chapter meetings.

The work of this committee is very much interdisciplinary. Collaboration is sought with other committees within the IEEE Communications Society and Signal Processing Society and other Societies, as well as related professional groups, such as Neural Networks council, Solid State Circuits Council, and applicable standards bodies. It is also international. Collaboration is sought with other regions to work jointly in the organization of sessions and workshops.
