Globecom 2001 minutes of meeting

Meeting at Globecom 2001, San Antonio, Texas USA
26 November 2001, 5:00 pm - 5:50 pm
1. Introductions and welcome to new members - The meeting began at 5:00 PM sharp. Attendees introduced themselves.
2. Minutes of ICC2001 - The minutes of ICC2001 were approved without correction.
3. Technical Program Committee (TPC) and Workshop reports
A. Globecom 2001 San Antonio, Y Lee, J. Elmirghani
SPCE runs six sessions with 7 papers in each session. All sessions progressed smoothly.
B. ICC2002 Tomo Taniguchi
134 papers received for the SPCE symposium and 52 accepted. There will be 13 sessions with 4 papers each. Session Chairs and organizers are needed. Tomo will email for volunteers.
C. Globecom'02 Y Lee, J. Elmirghani
The SPCE symposium has been approved, and 25th February 2002 is the due date for paper submission. The minimum required submission is 80. The CFP is ready and will be sent to Bin by Yumin for distribution. More tutorial proposals are needed.
D. ICC2003/Globecom2003 J. Elmirghani
Jaafar will attend ICC2003 TPC meeting. Globecom2003 meetings have not started. Tomo volunteers for Globecom2003 TPC meetings.
E. ISPACS 2001 Nashville and 2002 Taiwan, N. Otha
ISPACS2001 received about 90 submissions. Unfavorable situation affected its attendance. ISPACS2002 will be in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, immediately after Globecom2002. Coordination between ISPACS and Globecom/ICC SPCE symposiums could be better considered in the future. ISPACS2003 will probably in Korea.
F. ITS'02, Milcom2002
Nothing new to report.
G. ICCSC, T Clarkson
Trevor will represent ComSoc to attend this conference in Russia.
H. AIAA-ICSSC, R Smith
ICSSC 2002 is in Montreal, 12-16th May 2002. SPCE is a technical cosponsor. ICCSC 2003 will be in Yokohama 14-18th April 2003.
4. Tutorial proposals for future conferences
Topics in the areas of Satellite and RF communications, adaptive antennas, spectra efficiency and VLSIs in communications.
5. Workshop reports
Proposals requested, membership to be contacted.
6. Communication Magazine, J. Elmirghani
More popular topics needed to improve the exposure of SPCE.
7. Other business,
Efforts should be made to attract new members to SPCE. Emails can be sent to authors who's papers are accepted by SPCE symposiums, to invite them to attend SPCE meetings.
8. Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 5:50 PM. There were 9 people in attendance.
