ICC 2004 minutes of meeting

Signal Processing and Communication Electronics Technical Committee (SPCE)
Meeting at ICC 2004, Paris, France
21 June 2004, 5:45 pm - 6:10 pm
1. Introductions - The meeting began at 5:45 PM. Attendees introduced themselves. Ron welcomed new members to the meeting.
2. Minutes of GLOBECOM03 - The minutes of GLOBECOM2003 were approved without corrections.
3. Technical Program Committee (TPC) and Workshop reports
A. ICC2004 (Paris) N. Ohta
ASPCS will have 13 sessions of 8 papers each. It has attracted many attendees.
B. Globecom2004 (Dallas) J. Elmirghani
Globecom2004 will be in Dallas. Ted Rappaport is the TPC Chair. SPCE symposium will run in this conference. The TPC includes about 30 individuals. TC Reps are needed for this conference.
C. ICC2005 (Seoul) Tomo Taniguchi
ICC2005 will be held in Seoul, Korea. The beginning date of the conference was changed from 5/15 to 5/16. There will be 8 symposia and a general conference. Each symposia is requested to form a technical program committee whose size should be related to the number of submissions. It is requested that new and local (Korean) members be recruited and included in the TPC. The duties of the TPC is to organize the review process.
D. GLOBECOM 2005 (St. Louis) J. Elmirgani
Since Jaafar did not attend the meeting, there is nothing to report.
E. ICSSC 2004 (Monterey)/2005 (Italy), Ron Smith
ICSSC 2004 attracted is an AIAA all-satellite conference co-sponsored by ComSoc with endorsements from SPCE and Satellite Committee. It attracted 250 attendees or so.
ICSSC 2005 will be held in Rome, Italy, joint with Ka Band Utilization Conference Time of the conference is around September 2005. As of now it has not asked SPCE for endorsement yet.
F. ISPACS2004/ISPACS 2005, Bin Qiu
ISPACS 2004 will run at around November 18 – 19 in Seoul, Korea. The conference website has been updated. CFP deadline is August 1.
ISPACS 2005 will be held in Hong Kong.

5. Website and Member E-mails (Yumin)
Yumin reported that he has encountered difficulty in updating the SPCE website because the ftp account was no longer working. He is in the process of contacting the system admin to resolve the problem.
6. AOB
Yumin presented a tentative list of SPCE voting members, defined as members who have attended at least two of the last five meetings. There are a total of six members on the list.
7. Adjourn - The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 PM. There were 11 people in attendance.
