SMARTRAINING
Summer 2006
What is SMARTraining?
SMARTraining is a fitness development
progression from base training through pure strength training to power training.
This training is designed to reduce the recovery necessary from the intense bursts of
activity and power that occur at elite levels of certain sports. This training progresses
over the entire summer to develop as sound a fitness base as necessary to excel! Training will include the most
accurate, safe and effective
training progressions utilizing the
trained eyes and minds of the staff. However, to emphasize a proper technique or movement skills, we also utilize such training
tools as physio (Swiss) balls, medicine balls, free weights, PVC Mini-Cabers, tires,
ladders and many more and have available enough of each for all students in the class.
EVERY student receives: 1) The BEST on-field training by the staff with the highest qualifications and most years
of on-the-field experience with training this age group and ability. 2) A detailed home program to complement the on-field training. 3) A Performance Training Top which will be a great training option during the summer
months and beyond!
Who Should Attend?
Attendees are teenaged males and females
who play power and speed-based sports such as ice hockey, soccer, football and lacrosse.
Training is performed in several small ability-based groups within each class. Training is
adapted to the ability of the attending students.
Group One: Ages 11-15
Mondays and Thursdays 5:30pm to 6:45pm
Group Two: Ages 16-19
Mondays and Thursday 6:30pm to 8:00pm GROUPS WILL BE LIMITED IN SIZE to assure proper instruction and supervision.
Why should I choose this
program? The most common problems with fitness
programs are over-training, under-training or simply training incorrectly. This unique
program places highly experienced, active instructors with motivated, eager students in an
amazing facility to not only program the proper activities, technique, volume and
intensity of training, but to progress them throughout a full training cycle. This
minimizes training plateaus and achieves optimum progression.
When is this program?
This limited-enrollment program runs
Mondays and Thursday evenings from June 12th to August 16th. The premise of the program is to prepare the young athlete for late summer / early autumn
sport play. Students are enrolled in a first-come, first-enrolled basis. No students will
be added once the class is closed.
Where are the sessions?
This program could only occur at the
cutting edge facility at FSA in Farmington, CT,
easily accessible from I-84, CT Rt10 or CT Rt6. Detailed directions are available
HERE. This indoor facility has open
Field-Turf surfaces and is protected from the worst conditions (lightning, downpours,
excessive humidity) that summer can offer.

This is one of the indoor FieldTurf fields at the
Farmington Sports Arena. This is where the training occurs. Clean, safe, dry and bright.
