Our Kitchen Remodel - 2003-2004

before1.jpg (19604 bytes) First here are some before photos.   We already replaced the oven and microwave in this photo.  We have a GE Advantium Microwave with speedcook and a Frigidare Gallery flat top oven.

during1.JPG (23571 bytes) This is a during photo from March 2003.   We are putting in all new light fixtures and replacing the drywall as we rip out the cabinets.

We have removed the old pantry and will replace it with more counter space.

during2.JPG (20561 bytes) Here we have hung all the new cabinets on one side and almost completed the drywall.   You can still see that we haven't finished the lights on one side.

The cabinets are maple and are from Kraftmade.

during3.JPG (19682 bytes) We're getting close here to be ready for the new counter tops to be installed by Home Depot.
after1.jpg (21730 bytes) Here it is all completed!

The counter tops are Kona Brown Silestone.  This is a great product. It is just like granite but without the maintenance.

We tiled the backsplash with tumbled marble.

after2.jpg (18926 bytes) The backsplash and the ledge above the counters are also tumbled marble on this side.

The new dishwasher is by Maytag.

You can see we replaced the old pantry with the tall set of pantry cabinets at the far end of this photo.

In this photo, we haven't yet chiseled out the old saltillo.  We did replace that with Cherry Pergo in December 2003.

no floor1.jpg (20937 bytes) Disaster struck in October 2004.  We returned from a trip to San Francisco to find that the ice maker water line broke and flooded the floor.  You can see at the far right what was left of our gorgeous Pergo.
no floor2.jpg (18601 bytes) Another view of the damage.

new fridge.jpg (18464 bytes)

I guess you could say we did have somewhat of a happy ending as we got a new fridge, a Kitchenaid Superba.
