Hi! I'm glad you found me. My name is Winnie and I'm an Italian Greyhound (IG). People tell me Im freaky, but I think that I am the cutest thing on four legs! Just look at me!

This picture was taken as I was looking my most elegant! That's easy for an IG.
My registered name is
MACH Viva Sonata Painted Desert CD RN NAP NJP GRC EAC EJC EGC TN-O TG-O WV-N CGC TT VCM
"Viva" and "Sonata" are the names of the kennels that co-bred me. Click here to read about what all those initials mean.

I'm a very active dog and do lots of fun things, like obedience and agility. I used to like lure coursing, but then I decided that I'd rather not run and just stick by mom. Oh well. I got my Canine Good Citizenship Certificate on May 8th, 1999. I'm very proud of that.
I have earned my Companion Dog title in obedience from the AKC. After a few close calls, I earned all my legs in three straight shows, including topping it off at the IGCA West Coast Specialty in June 2001 by earning High In Trial!

Be sure to check out my obedience page.
Winnie earns her second Specialty High In Trial at the Valley of the Sun Italian Greyhound Club on March 21st, 2002!

I'm working on Open obedience classes at Phoenix Field and Obedience Club. My mom is trying to convince me that the dumbell is not an evil torture device. I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Also, I'm in Advanced agility classes at Jumping Chollas Agility Club. Check out my agility page!

Winnie's goes MACH on June 2, 2006!

Now, I have heard some people say that Italian Greyhounds look like a cross between Wile E. Coyote and the Rats from the Muppet Show! I don't think so! What do you think?

My AKC registered name is Viva/Sonata Painted Desert, and I was born near Houston. I enjoy playing with stuffed animals, ripping up newspaper, running around like a wild woman, and looking cute. Here's a picture of me with my mommy.

My mommy and daddy got married on October 18th, 1998. I wanted to be flower girl, but I wasn't allowed. Wouldn't that have been cute? Anyway, if you missed it, check out the wedding page.

Tracy's first I.G. is named Pikop's Precious Gem CD CGC VCX, but better known to us as Rappy (a.k.a. The Velociraptor). The CD after her name indicates she passed the first level of A.K.C. Obedience competition and has earn the title of Companion Dog (I'll get one of those one day). The CGC stands for Canine Good Citizen, also an A.K.C. title indicative of a well behaved pet. VCX is Versatility Certificate Excellent awarded by the Italian Greyhound Club of Greater Houston to IG's who excel in several areas.
Here is Rappy with some of her ribbons.

I'm sorry to say that Rappy was sent to the Bridge on July 1st, 2003. She was bravely fighting cancer when she was viscously attacked by a loose dog while on a walk. We will never forgot this sweet, sweet dog.
Now there is another I.G. in the family named Rudie (Pikop's Tasmanian Devil), and a rescued greyhound named Allie, who passed onto the Bridge on January 9th, 2004.. After Tracy moved away from her folks (Mom and Dad), Rappy, Rudie and Allie lived with them.
The IG isn't the dog for everybody, since we HATE the cold and wet and find any excuse not to go outside during these conditions. Did I mention that we are difficult to housebreak? So I recommend you go to these links for more information. Also, there are several wonderful IG's waiting to be adopted, so check out the Rescue Link.

Tracy likes equines as much as canines, so check out her horses page.

Unfortunately, Tracy had to give up horses when she went off to college (Northern Arizona University), but that's how she got into training dogs, since they are much cheaper to own. I'm happy that she found out about IGs! After she graduated from NAU in 1996, she got a job in Tucson as a Civil Engineer. That's when she bought me in May of 1997! Then, in February 1998 we moved up here to Phoenix to be with Pat and Chelsea.
