Max is a busy, sweet and loveable 2 year old Italian Greyhound. He loves to cuddle and sleep with his people, play with other Italian Greyhounds and chew on rawhide and bullysticks. He loves toys and balls, too, but needs tough ones because his teeth are very strong!

Unfortunately, Max’s life before coming into rescue was not always good, and he has some fear issues related to his background. His fear is most often expressed when being picked up or reached for in any way. He may have been struck or punished in some way in the past and therefore associates these actions with negative consequences. We have been working with him and making progress in these areas. Because of these issues, Max will require owners who are patient and gentle. It takes him a while to warm up to new people, but once he does he is very happy and sweet.

It also appears that Max did not receive much training before coming into rescue. We are working with him on some basics like learning to sit and walking on a leash. He also has some house training issues, but since being neutered, he is improving and has made a lot of progress.

Max gets along well with other dogs his size, but does not like big dogs and therefore will need a home without any large breed dogs. He is also nervous around children and would do best in a home without young kids. Max particularly enjoys the company of other Italian Greyhounds, but doesn’t necessarily require their presence. He would probably make a great “only child” dog, too. He especially loves to sleep in bed with his owners – he finds a good warm spot and doesn’t move all night!

Max is currently living with his foster family in Wasilla, Alaska. Please e-mail Lisa at iggyblue@yahoo.com for an application to adopt this sweet guy!
