Joey: Meet Joey a lovable male 9-10 year old Italian greyhound. He acts more like a puppy and he's more active than all the dogs in his foster home. Joey loves to be with the other dogs - he barks & barks at his foster brother to get him to run & play with him or when he wants attention. Joey also seem to do well with children. Older children are preferred though, based on this breeds fragility. Joey walks well on lead and is crate trained. His potty habits are good as long as kept on a schedule. Joey needs to go to a home where someone is around most of the time; he has a little bit of separation anxiety, but would do okay as long as he has another dog companion. Joey loves to be with his people and follows his foster mom wherever she goes, and loves to curl up on your lap. Joey would prefer a fenced in yard if possible as he does love to run and play. Joey is fully vetted and recently had a dental, he is also altered. He is heart worm negative and on monthly preventative. Joey also has a slight heart murmur.

Joey is located in Wichita KS and prospective adopters will need to go there to meet him. For more information contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com

Zipper:  Introducing Zipper a gorgeous, lovable black and white male Italian greyhound between the ages of 4-6 years old. He likes to play with his foster brothers, snuggle with his foster mom, and will hug you around your neck.  He enjoys running and playing in the yard, but also has a very calm and sweet personality.  Zipper is crate trained,  but prefers to sleep under the covers in bed as long as you'll let him.  He will also go to the door when he wants to go outside.  Zipper also does well with kids, an older child is preferred due to the fragility of the breed.  Zipper has been altered, is current on immunizations, is heart worm negative, on preventative and has had a recent dental. Zipper also has good potty habits. Zipper would enjoy a fenced yard in his forever home so that he can continue to run and play.

He is located in Wichita KS and potential adopters will have to go there to meet him.  For more information contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com

Guinness: Guinness is a wonderfully sweet calm 2-3 year old male Italian Greyhound.  He is a gorgeous seal color and very well muscled, in fact his foster mom thinks he looks like an artistic sculpture of the breed.  Guinness is on the bigger side and weighs 16.6 pounds, without an ounce of fat on him.  He is very sweet natured and plays gently with his blind foster brother and tiny little foster sister. Guinness loves to sit and snuggle with you, and will cuddle up and sleep with you through the night. He is not invasive though, he will approach you and gaze at you soulfully to be invited up, he never jumps in your lap or on the furniture. He can be a bit shy if he thinks you are chasing him, but calmly put your hand down and he will approach you.  His potty habits are excellent and he is very smart, he learned the doggy door within a few hours and has not had any accidents in the house since coming into foster care. Guinness has shown no desire to mark at his foster home. Guinness crates for cookies and meals and rests quietly in his crate.  He is not a licker but will gently snuffle your face.  Guinness will be altered, have a dental and be up to date on immunizations prior to his adoption.  Guinness would prefer a fenced yard.  Older children would be fine for Guinness, due to his sensitive nature children under the age of 9 are not preferred.

Lewis:  This cute 1 year old (as of 4/09) male Italian greyhound is a pretty tough dude. After Lewis had been in rescue for awhile it was clear he had some health issues. Lewis underwent surgery to correct the problem and he is doing wonderful. This young boy is still very much a puppy, running around and playing with his foster brothers.

Lewis would like a fenced yard and no children for him as he is pretty small. Lewis is current on immunizations, heart-worm negative-on preventative and has been neutered. Lewis may require a special diet for the rest of his life but everyone expects him to have a normal life expectancy. Lewis's food is available commercially so will be easy enough to purchase.

Ruger is an 8 month old (as of 2-09), playful puppy. He is a very handsome boy that is blue-fawn with white markings. He is a bit goofy at times, chasing his tail and standing on his hind legs to sniff the air. He barks (like a seal) at his foster brother and sister to get them riled up so they will play with him. He also loves to play with his toys (he fetches really well) and loves to run around outside. Therefore he will require a fenced yard and no small children due to his size and the breeds fragility. We are working on his potty training (using piddle pads & outdoors). He is doing quite well but still needs to be watched closely. He is crate trained (although he has a habit of pottying in his crate due to being left for extended periods when he was younger) but prefers to be warm under the covers with his human. He is a smart little guy with such a sweet expressive face. He will bond very closely with his human.

Rugar is neutered, current on immunizations, and on heartworm preventative. Out of state adoptions will be considered IF APPROVED BY YOUR LOCAL REP, and the potential adopter must be willing to travel to Missouri to Meet him. We will not ship under any circumstances. Rugar is located southwest of Kansas City Mo. For more information on Rugar contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com.

Mia is a very striking 10 month (2/09) old female Italian Greyhound. Mia is a very playful puppy. She is constantly in motion! She loves to play with her foster sister and the cat. She likes to snuggle on laps, and loves chewies and stuffed squeaky toys. She sleeps all night without needing to go outside and prefers to sleep with her foster parents under the covers. Her potty habits are evolving and does well if taken out on schedule.  Mia is also working on her crate training skills. If left too long in crate she will have an accident. Mia is not a barker even when the doorbell rings or folks come over. Mia is very smart, and has a great, fun-loving personality.

Mia is current on immunizations, on heartworm prevention, and already spayed. Mia would like a home with a fence if possible, but can walk on lead to do her business.  A home with kids would be OK, but preferably over the age of 8 due to the fragility of the breed. Mia is located in Wichita KS, and potential homes will need to go there to meet her, WE WILL NOT SHIP!. For more information on Mia contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com.

Primo is a 7 year old male Italian Greyhound who was lovingly turned in with his brother (also available thru rescue) by owners that could no longer keep him. Primo is a wonderfully sweet boy with excellent potty habits that loves to go outside and play with his foster brother and sister. his foster mom says he enjoys romping in the yard, but when inside is very laid back and loving. Primo is neutered, up to date on immunizations, heartworm negative, on preventative and has had a recent dental.

Primo could do well with children, but over the age of 7 is best due to the fragility of the breed. He would prefer to have a fenced yard, but if taken out regularly he could also do well in an apartment or condo setting.

Buddy is a 4 year old male Italian greyhound that is as sweet and loving as can be. HE loves to snuggle with his human and plays well with his foster brothers. Buddy does not have an aggressive bone in his body. Buddy also has good potty habits and will go on a puddle pad or use a doggy door. Buddy does need a fenced yard and family that will look out for him as he has a progressive disorder that is causing him to loose his vision. His foster mom has already been working with him with verbal cues that makes transitions easy for him and will help him be successful when his vision is completely gone. Buddy walks well on lead and thru verbal cues easily adjusts to environmental changes like steps etc. Buddy has already mapped out his foster home and does not bump into things as he did when he 1st came. Buddy is expected to have a normal lifespan of this breed, but will just need some special care to stay active and safe.

Buddy crates well but would prefer sleeping with his owner at night. Children are ok but preferred over the age of 8. Buddy is current on shots, is neutered and heartworm negative and on a preventative and will have a dental before adoption.

Maggie is a 5 year old female Italian Greyhound. She loves to play with her foster brothers and sisters with no problem. She is a bit shy when you 1st meet her but warms up soon. In her previous life she did not get to go out and play much so she is hesitantly exploring this new world. Her potty habits are improving also from when she 1st came in. Maggie would prefer a home with another small dog and a person who can pay lots of attention to her. She adores napping with her foster mom and is very sweet.

Maggie's shots are current, is heart worm negative and on preventative, she is also spayed and had a recent dental. Maggie would do OK with kids older than 8 and could do OK in an apartment setting and use a piddle pad or do OK with a fenced yard as she is enjoying this new world.

Shelby is a 2 1/2 (as of 7/09) year old female Italian Greyhound. Shelby is the sweetest girl IG that her foster mom has ever met. She loves to snuggle and be loved on. She plays well with her foster brothers and sisters and would do well with another small dog at her new home. Shelby has great potty habits and will use a puddle pad or the doggy door reliably. Shelby NEEDS to have her own fenced yard though as she really enjoys being outside. She is very athletic and can easily jump a baby gate or X-Pen and for that reason if you have a chain link fence it would be best if she was not left outside unattended-a privacy fence would be perfect for her.

Shelby crates well for meals and at bedtime but would prefer to sleep with her new owner. Shelby is spayed, heartworm negative, on preventative and current on shots with a recent dental. Shelby is being fostered in ST Joseph MO and out of state adoption's will be considered if approved by your local rep and you are willing to travel to St Joe to meet here. We will not ship. For more information contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com.

Hamlisch is a 9 year male Italian greyhound who is a very fit 21 lb. boy who is full of love and energy. Ham is very friendly with everyone, including strangers and other dogs. He loves being petted, as he seeks out attention from anyone nearby. Ham would do best in a home with dogs close to his size, because he loves to run and wrestle with his foster sisters. He also enjoys walks and playing in the back yard, so a fenced yard is preferred. Hamlisch has excellent potty habits if taken out regularly, never having had an accident in foster care. He sleeps in his crate at night and when his foster parents are at work. Despite his age, Hamlisch acts like a young dog and would like a home where he gets lots of attention, interaction, and stimulation. He is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines, and has had a recent dental.

Mitzi is a wonderfully sweet, loving 3 year old fawn-colored female Italian Greyhound.  She is tall and thin, with a 12 pound svelte body and a gentle expressive face with wide, brown eyes that follow your every move  Mitzi is very sweet natured and loves people – all strangers and kids, too, if they approach her gently.  Mitzi also has a lively personality once she gets to know you, and will play tug or play with you or with another dog her size. Mitzi loves walks and prances at your side anytime the leash is shown.  She also loves to snuggle, nestling up to you on the sofa or in bed all night long.  Mitzi will sit and patiently await your attention, but bound up with joy the moment you give her the nod.  She bounces when you enter the room, and loves to be held to give you soft, gentle nuzzles.  Mitzi had a previous life that was devoid of encouragement, so she’s still gaining her confidence in new situations, but she’s always open to new things, just looking up to you for direction and encouragement.  She’s very smart and sensitive – a positive word to her makes her blossom, as she so wants to please.  Mitzi has very good potty habits, even in wet weather.  She enjoys other dogs if they’re her size or quiet in temperament: she’s curled up with her foster IG brother and sister in sleep, or races around with them in a mock squirrel chase.  Mitzi is up to date on all immunizations, dental, and has been spayed and micro-chipped. Her diet habits are good, and she relishes her meals with gusto.

Mitzi would enjoy a fenced yard or a forever home that loves to take her on walks several times a day.  Older children would be fine for Mitzi, due to her sensitive nature children under the age of 9 are not preferred.  For more information on the this gorgeous, loving young lady, contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com.

Sienna is a 4 year old very striking red and white Italian greyhound. Sienna is very calm and an easy soul to be with, she has great potty habits and walks very well on lead. Sienna's foster mom thinks she has the prettiest little prance when waling on lead. Sienna could do well in a fenced yard or even in an apartment if the owner is committed to taking her on walks. Sienna does use a litter box as well but prefers going outside. She could do well with another small dog or even be an only dog. Due to the fragility of the breed children over 8 are preferred.

Sienna is heartworm negative, on preventative, current on immunizations and will be spayed prior to adoption. Sienna is located in St Joseph Mo and out of state adoptions will be considered if approved by your local rep and you are willing to travel to St Joe to meet her.  For more information about this pretty little girl contact Deb at kadcp@stjoelive.com.

Dimitri is a very mellow 5 year old boy who can be frisky when playing. He gets along well with other dogs and when frequenting the dog park has no social problems. He tends to follow one of his bigger foster brothers and does whatever he does. He gets along well with children but ones of 8 years of age are ideal due to fragility fo the breed. Dimitri will sleep by himself in the dog bed or burrow under the blanket with you. This handsome boy also has very good manners and most times will not jump up on the furniture. He walks great on a leash (very relaxed) and rarely pulls.  Dimitri's foster mom thinks he has a wonderful and quirky personality and has his own way of showing love by putting the side of his face next to your cheek or on your chest. He would make a great dog for a family and would enjoy another small dog as a companion. Dimitri is current on immunizations, heart worm negative, on preventative and all ready to find his forever home.
