Harley, renamed Charlie, is a 4 year old neutered red and white male placed in Temecula, CA on January 6th.  Charlie was brought in to the rescue program in August 2007 when his family moved to a colder climate and they thought he would be happier staying where it’s warmer.  Charlie will have plenty of warmth snuggling under the covers with his new owner who is retired and will be giving Charlie all of the attention he craves!  Charlie is also spoiled with an entire IG proof acre yard to play and sunbathe in.  For meals, Charlie and his owner visit family next door where Charlie gets to play with a one year old IG named Romeo and a 7 year old Weim named Faith.   Thanks to IGCA Rescue CA for helping to find Charlie this wonderful home, and thanks to Charlie’s new owner’s who drove to Phoenix to give him the most comfortable homecoming!

MISTY, a four year old fawn and white female, and PECAN, renamed Peekee, a 3 year old fawn and white male, were placed in Chandler on January 12th. Misty was turned in to rescue late December with her housemate Skeeter (above) when their owner could no longer care for them due to their owner’s health issues. Peekee and 10 other IGs were placed in rescue after being confiscated from an animal cruelty case by authorities. When Peekee first came into rescue, he was incapacitated by fear and it seemed nothing could bring him joy.   After 4 months in rescue it is still not possible to simply walk up to Peekee and pet him but has made a lot of progress and is happy about almost everything!   Treats and Dinner!   Waking people up in the morning to visit!   The freedom of using the dog door! Running around the yard!   The dog park!   Playing with dog friends!   Even being petted is pretty darn nice!   Peekee is experiencing even more new things and continues to improve in his new home.   Within just a few days, Peekee learned to safely navigate the stairs in his new home.   Even more impressive, Peekee completed his FIRST SUCCESSFUL WALK around the block on a leash with the help of his new mom and his calm IG buddy, Misty, who enjoys going for walks.   Peekee is a happy boy in his new home and loves to follow his mom around the house to see what wonderful thing will happen next. Their new owners have friends who own IGs and they visit regularly.  For now, Misty enjoys watching the rambunctious antics of Peekee and the IG visitors from the warm comfort of her owner’s lap while she corners the market on getting petted!

Lucy [renamed Priscilla] is a red and white female who was placed in Los Angeles, California on March 4th. Priscilla and 10 other IGs were placed in rescue after being confiscated from an animal cruelty case by authorities in September 2007.  Priscilla is happiest in a large pack where she has lots of other dogs to take courage from and she has plenty of dog friends in her new home! Priscilla now lives with 7 other IGs ages 5 to 10 years old each adopted through the rescue program.  Though Priscilla is extremely timid and difficult to ‘catch’, she has a curious personality and she is quickly coming out of her shell in her new home.  She loves to sniff her mom when she thinks she can’t be seen doing it.  Priscilla’s mom is working with her daily and Priscilla regularly comes running when she hears her name being called to see why she’s wanted!  Priscilla has learned to safely navigate the stairs in her new home and is also rapidly learning to walk and potty while on a leash which is a great accomplishment for both her and new owner. Thank you to IGCA Rescue in California for helping Priscilla find an experienced home that can help her learn to be a happy and permanent member of a big, loving and fun family.

Honey [renamed Goldie] is a dainty fawn and white female who was placed in Cave Creek on March 8th. Goldie and 10 other IGs were placed in rescue after being confiscated from an animal cruelty case by authorities in September 2007. Goldie was adopted by her foster home and she has come a long way in the months since September when she was too afraid to leave her crate most of the time.  At first, not even food would convince Goldie to come out of her crate but she now loves meal time and comes running for her turn for treat.  Goldie also now confidently walks out in the yard to potty or play [an open space which used to terrify her] and she now loves to cuddle on the couch with mom in evenings which used to make her very nervous.  Goldie is pampered princess who sports a beautiful ID collar hand made especially for her by her mom and is the only collar Goldie has agreed to wear [she tries to chew all others off at any cost and has almost injured herself].  Goldie also has a plethora of cozy places to snuggle around the house including a special dog bed near the bathroom where she likes to be when mom gets ready for work.  Goldie shares her home with fellow rescue Dash [see placements 2007] IG Sophie, Pug Frannie and is watched over by the gentle loving spirit of Merlin the Greyt who passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Goldie’s adoption day from bone cancer.  Merlin was also a rescue and Goldie was very intrigued by him.  When Goldie first came to live in Merlin’s home, it was her curiosity of him that often gave her the courage to come out of her crate to visit when nothing else would.
