Florida trip

On February 5, Daniel and I loaded up our stuff
into BeeBoo’s truck and headed south for a family reunion. Thirteen hours later, we arrived in Florida
where we spent the next week going to flea markets, visiting Sea World and
having a Thanksgiving in Florida meal with several relatives. Daniel had a blast! I thought the car ride would be a nightmare,
but Daniel did great! We took the
laptop which has a DVD player and we ended up only using it for three or four
hours. He was just as happy as he could
be. He also surprised Dad and I both as
he only fell asleep for about the last 45 minutes of the trip until we
stopped. He then woke up and was ready
to go again for another hour or so. He
got to play with his cousins Allison and Bryan (4 & 2 at the time) which he
really enjoyed. He was so well behaved
and kept a smile on his face, even when he didn’t get a nap in. Unfortunately, we had to cut it a day or two
short because Daniel got sick and I really wanted to get back to familiar surroundings
just incase we needed a doctor. The
ride home wasn’t as good as the ride down there, but that’s to be expected as
Daniel was pretty sick. Also, the day
before we came home, I learned that Matt had fallen off a ladder at work and
gotten pretty bruised up from that.
Luckily, he wasn’t seriously injured, just really sore for a few days.
I thought I would share some of the pictures from
our trip with you. Above, Daniel is all
smiles in Uncle Jim’s van the day after we arrived. We were on our way to let him play with Allison and Bryan and he
was really excited. Just a word of caution… if you are planning a
trip to Florida in February, TAKE SHORTS!!!!
I had packed them for Daniel but none for myself and it was rather warm
most of the days we were there. Oh
well, at least I know for the future!
Because there are so many pictures, I’ll split it
up into two pages for faster loading on dial-up connection. I’ll get all of the pictures with Daniel in
them on this page and just put some of the marine life at Sea World on the next
page. So, if you wish to look, please
click the link at the bottom! Thanks!

On the left, Daniel is happy as can be buckled
into his carseat for the trip. This was
taken about 5 hours into the trip. In
the middle, Daniel is being silly sticking his tongue out at the camera while
we wait for Uncle Jim and BeeBoo to get a haircut. On the right, it’s lunchtime at Uncle Jim and YaYa’s house. Going L to R is Bryan, Allison and Daniel.

On the left, we’ve just entered Sea World. Daniel was amazed by all of the water
everywhere and the lighthouse located in the background. On the right is a better picture of the
lighthouse in the background.

On the left, Daniel and BeeBoo are watching the
Dolphins in the petting area. Daniel
loved to watch them but wanted nothing to do with touching them. On the right is a better picture of the
dolphins in the dolphin area.

On the left, Daniel and BeeBoo are getting ready
for the Dolphin show to start. On the
right, he’s looking through the glass floor at the fish. There were fish in the floor and in the
ceiling and Daniel didn’t want to leave the area.

On the left, Daniel has just realized there are fish in the ceiling and is pointing to them. On the right, is a view of the fish in the ceiling.

Here, I
handed the camera off to Dad and he took a couple pics of Daniel and I
together. On the left, we are sitting
by the petting area for the sting rays.
On the right, we are hanging out in the penguin area…notice how red our
faces are? That’s a result of mommy
forgetting to use sunscreen for a trip to the flea market. Oops!
Guess that Florida sun is a bit warmer than the sun in VA in
February. So, Daniel and I both ended
up with sun burnt faces. After that
day, I never again forgot to put the sunscreen on us.
