So you've decided to e-mail me and I bet you'd like your e-mail to get read and responded to. That tends to be easy enough, but thanks to spam my inbox gets crowded with crap. You don't want your e-mail to be mistaken for such crap so please follow the guidelines below and your e-mail will get read.

First:

Come up with a subject that indicates what your e-mail is about. If you want to use some of my website content, address it specifically (ex: “Permission to use your Vincent fanart”). If you’ve found something wrong with the site, “Broken link on Dark Corner” will get your e-mail read. Basically, avoid subjects like “Hi” or “question.” These are nonspecific and are the types of subjects generated for spam e-mail. I will delete such e-mail without ever opening them.

Second:

In your e-mail, please use English. I am sorry, but I am not fluent in any other language and online translators do a very poor job of translating. Also please avoid excessive use of leet speak. It tends to look like randomly generated characters and odds are I won’t take the time to figure out that it is a message.

Third:

Please, please, please proof read your e-mail. Everyone makes mistakes they don’t catch (I’ve made some lovely ones…) but if I can’t figure out what you are saying because there are so many typos, I probably won’t respond to your e-mail.
