Cloud and the others have parachuted into Midgar to stop Hojo from shooting the “Sister Ray,” the mako cannon used to try to break Sephiroth’s energy shield over the crater. Hojo plans to use the cannon to send more energy to Sephiroth, but if fired again the cannon will damage the mako reactors that power it, threatening the lives of many citizens of Midgar.
After several battles, Cloud makes his way to the controls of the cannon, where Hojo is waiting. In this dialog, Vincent is the only other character that will speak if he is in the active party. The other characters do not speak until after the battle with Hojo.
Cloud: “Hojo! Stop right there!!”
Hojo is fiddling with the cannon’s controls.
Hojo: “Oh… the failure.”
Cloud: “At least remember my name! It’s Cloud!”
Hojo: “Every time I see you, I…”
Hojo stops fiddling with the controls and clasps his hands behind his back.
Hojo: “It pains me that I had so little scientific sense… I evaluated you as a failed project.”
Hojo resumes fiddling with the cannon’s controls.
Hojo: “But you are the only one that succeeded as a Sephiroth-clone. Heh, heh, heh… I’m even beginning to hate myself.”
Cloud: “None of that matters… just stop this nonsense!”
Hojo: “…nonsense?” Hojo pauses.
Hojo: “Oh, this?”
Hojo turns to face Cloud.
Hojo: “Ha ha ha. Sephiroth seems to be counting on the energy. So I’m going to lend him a hand.”
Cloud: “Why? Why do that!?”
Hojo: “Quit asking me why, you moron.”
Hojo walks up to Cloud.
Hojo: “Hmm… actually, you might be cut out to be a scientist.”
Hojo walks back to the controls and smashes some buttons.
Hojo: “Energy level is at……83%. It’s taking too long. My son is in need of power and help. …That’s the only reason.”
Cloud: “…your son?”
Hojo: “Ha, ha, ha… Although he doesn’t know. Ha, ha, ha… HA, HA, HA…!! What will Sephiroth think when he finds out I’m his father? Always looking down on me like that. HA, HA, HA…!!”
Cloud: “Sephiroth is your son!?”
Vincent: “……!”
Hojo: “Ha, ha, ha… I offered the woman with my child to Professor Gast’s Jenova Project. When Sephiroth was still in the womb, we took the cells of Jenova… HA, HA, HA!!”
Vincent: “You…!”
Cloud: “I can’t believe you’re the one who did this… The illusionary crime against Sephiroth…”
Hojo: “Heee, hee, hee, hee! No you’re wrong! It’s my desire as a scientist! Heee, hee, hee, hee!”
Vincent: “…… I was… wrong. The one that should have slept was… you Hojo!”
Vincent flings his cape back as he points at Hojo with his right hand.
Hojo: “I… was defeated by my desire to become a scientist. I lost the last time as well. I’ve injected Jenova’s cells into my own body!”
Hojo does a series of very weird looking movements with his arms and hip in some sort of crazy dance.
Hojo: “Heee, hee, hee! Hear are… Heee, hee, hee! …my results!! Gwa Ha Ha!”
The battle begins with the party fighting a slightly green but still human looking Hojo. After his first stage is defeated Hojo begins to fad out and change into something far less human.
Hojo: “Hwa ha ha… now lets see how the mako juice is reacting…”
After the second stage is defeated, Hojo transforms into his third and final stage. Cloud and the party finally defeat Hojo. Only the characters in your immediate party speak after this, but I'll be listing all the characters responses below. (Still in progress.)
Barret: “Anyway... that's the end of the cannon...”
Cloud: “……”
Cid: “%$#&$*&^%”
Red XIII: “The father...”
Tifa: “I can't believe Sephiroth is Hojo's son...”
Vincent: “Hojo… Rest in peace…”
Yuffie: “How sad... for him...”
