I think I had a love affair with food. At least you’d think that, as I was eating some almost constantly. I think I was a boredom eater, & perhaps just a bad habit eater as well. I ate while I watched TV & I ate while I worked on the computer. I ate in the bedroom, the bathroom, & in my car. I ate fast food for lunch nearly every day, & sometimes in the evening, too. I drank about 2-4 cans of pop per day, & I never drank water at all. At night, I snacked on my favorite things: Cheezits & chocolate. I could eat a small box of Cheezits in one day & a bag of chocolates in two. Not that it’s something to brag about, but that’s the way things were. You’re not going to find recipes on my site or samples of my daily journal. I hate to cook and have no interest in it whatsoever, and I’m a picky eater, so my journals are pretty boring. I eat the same foods quite often and do not get bored. I simply don’t care if my diet varies. Food is fuel and that’s it! Of course, some of it tastes quite heavenly…..that was the problem. The WW plan was very appealing to me as you could choose to eat whatever you wanted to as long as you stayed in your points range. I didn’t want to use a plan where I had to buy special foods or adhere to a rigid set of rules. Once I became used to tracking my points, I realized that I needed to make better choices. My trigger foods were empty calories and did not fill me up. If I was going to succeed, I needed to make changes once again. My beloved morning Pepsi was one of the first things to go. (I’m not sure why I call it my morning Pepsi as in reality it was my morning, afternoon, and evening Pepsi.) I started to drink a Crystal Light instead. 0 points! Eventually, I bought a Brita water pitcher and took it to work and started sipping on water the rest of the day. I never drank water before this. I could go months without drinking water. I drank Pepsi, milk, and orange juice. Now we even have a water cooler in our home and the choice drink for the entire family is water. I still eat my trigger foods. WW is not about deprivation, nor is my No Excuses Mentality. As long as you stay within points, you can still enjoy those heavenly foods, just in moderation. I have also discovered many new healthier versions of my favorite foods, such as Luna nutrition bars. These are good for me, plus help keep me filling full. Other foods that fill me up are Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal. (I eat it for a snack, out of the box.) I eat a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich almost every day for a chocolate fix, and I still indulge in my old favorite, Cheezits. I just limit it to a serving about once or twice a week. I never used to eat fruits or vegetables either. I would probably have about 1-4 servings per week. Now I take a bag of raw carrots or grapes to work in the morning. I eat a small plain salad with tomatoes for lunch. In season, I love cantaloupe. It’s still a challenge to get my servings of fruit or vegetables daily, and I’m working on that. Other new favorites are Boca Burgers and Boca Meatless Pizza. Journaling is key in this journey. Recent studies not affiliated with WW show that people that write down what they eat are more successful when trying to lose weight than those that do not, which makes perfect sense. Journal everyday no matter how you feel or how the week went for you. Success is in your hands!
