(The only time we cannot use a putter to measure Gimme is during a
tournament!)
There are 2 ways of scoring, low gross and low net.
Low gross is your unadjusted total number of strokes per 9 nine holes (or 18
holes if you play the whole course). Low net is your total number of
strokes minus your handicap.
BEAT THE PRO This is a game where you bet on yourself that with your score
minus your handicap you can beat the pro’s s core. You may put money down on yourself in the pro shop on Thursday
that you can beat her. How much is up
to you. If you beat her they will
double it, if you don’t they will give you a certificate in the amount of the
money you put down. If you don’t know
your handicap you can find it in the ladies locker room.
BEST FIVE HOLES - Fill out your score card as usual. The Sports Chair will determine your five best holes.
The Club Championship is two days of play. The pairing is done by
handicaps the first day and by first-day-finishing order for the second
day. Players must play both days to be eligible for
prizes. But other players may play on either of the
playdays if not competing -- these players will be paired after those
competing for the Championship.
At the end of the first day of play a
"medallist" will be awarded for low gross on that day. The
Champion will be the overall low gross for the two days. Prizes will be
awarded in each flight for gross, net and putts with no winners receiving more
than one award.
The
week following the scheduled two Championship playdays will be designated as a
rain date for the second round of tournament. If play is cancelled two weeks,
the winners will be decided on the one-week's play.
COUPON DAY: ( Three coupons will be handed out at time
of play. Use them if needed to get out
of trouble. Regular Play – Low Gross)
DOG DAYS Low Gross/Low Net
FLAG DAY The player who carries her flag through the
most holes wins. Every player receives a flag to place on the course when her
score equals par plus handicap.
1. Go into
signup room and find out what your handicap is on the board. If you don't know
it already.
2. Add your handicap plus 36 for the nine holes we play and add them
together. Like mine is 7+36=43
3. Go to the starters table and get your little flag. Put your NAME
& HANDICAP on your flag.
4. Then you play your own game of golf. Like myself after I
have hit my 43rd shot I would place my flag on the ground right there.
Yours will not be the same as mine.
5. If I make it around the full nine holes and still have my flag
then I would take my flag into the club room and leave my flag on the
club table.
It is real simple if you get your handicap early or call Kay Smith to
get your handicap.

HATE’ EM- Before teeing off, circle one holes that
you absolutely HATE. Subtract the score on this 1 hole from your total.
I CAN’T SEE IT!--Hit the ball once on EACH hole with your eyes

IRISH MULLIGAN
DAY-- One mulligan for nine
holes. Those working on handicaps DO NOT use a mulligan. By Golly Wear The
Green.
IRON PLAY Hit wood off the tee. All
succeeding shots must be hit with an iron. Regular scoring.
Low Gross, Low Net (The only
time we cannot use putter to measure Gimme is during a tournament!)
Your gross score is
the total number of strokes played in your round. The actual number of strokes on each hole, totaled at the end of
the round.
Low net is your
gross score minus your handicap. For
example, if you shoot 55, and your handicap is 12, your net score is 43.
So, the winner of
"low gross" is the player in her flight who had the fewest total
strokes. The winner of "low net" is the player in her flight who had
the lowest score after subtracting her handicap.
Your
"adjusted" score takes into account the USGA's equitable stroke
control. For handicap purposes, a player may take no more than 10 strokes per
hole. As a player's handicaps improves, she is permitted fewer strokes per
hole. For example, as determined by handicap, some players may take only a 9 on
a hole. So, if a player takes 10 strokes to hole out, she writes "10"
on her card (raw score), but her score will be adjusted by Kay to "9"
for the purpose of figuring her total score for handicap purposes.
ONE CLUB
SCRAMBLE-- You and your
partners (playing as a foursome) each pick one club that you hit the best with:
one to drive with off the tee, one for the fairway, one for the short shots and
one putter. (Each player is responsible for hitting with the club she chooses
for each hole.) Team with the lowest gross score wins. When you get your Tee
Time you will know who is in your group. (Call each other to see who is playing
with what club before play.)
PARTNER’S ODD AND EVEN--Before play begins, partners decide which
partner’s score will count on the even holes and which will count on the odd
holes. Those in a foursome would choose a partner and the partners
would decide whose score they would post from holes 1-3-5-7-9 on the team score card and also decide whose score you
would post on holes 2-4-6-8 on the team score card. After the game post the holes agreed upon on the team score card. Those players that
are establishing a handicap – play regular golf. Those players that do not have a partner – play regular
golf. If you played without a partner -- Merry will pair the single
scorecards with another another single scorecard for some surprises!
PINK BALL SCRAMBLE The
Pink Ball goes to player #1 for hole #1.
Player #2 for hole 2. Player #3
for hole#3, player #4 for hole 4.
Whoever has the Pink Ball use that score for the team score card. Once each player has played the Pink Ball
once the rotation starts all over and continues throughout the game.
I*If you lose your
Pink Ball, circle the hole you lost it on and continue to play.
*At the completion
of your game, return the Pink Ball to the Club Room and leave it with your
score cards.
*If you put the
Pink Ball in the creek and can find it you are still in the game.
*Have fun and Good
Luck. Don’t lose the Pink Ball!

BEST BALL (The

Each
of the two partners tee off. You pick the shot you like (usually the
best). The partner that did not hit that tee shot hits the ball, then the
first person hits and so on until you get to the green and hole. Start
over again with the 2nd hole and again both hit a tee shot, pick the best ball
and then the partner hits the second shot and you alternate until the ball is
holed out.
