THE DODGE DAYTONA IROC ![]() ![]() Click to subscribe to chrysler3literV6 Hello and welcome. This site is primarily dedicated my Daytona IROC. I keep the information on the IROC R/Ts on a separate page. You will see that I have quite a few pages. These pages cover 3.0 performance to multimedia of myself racing to the Chrysler3LiterV6 mailing list. Well the Daytona has be retired. Its still around and kicking serving as backup transportation. My current focus is autocrossing a Dodge Shadow ES. ![]() Check out my other links to see what I've been doing with my car. From drag racing to driving schools to autocrossing, my car handles it all. When are you going to "drive" your car? Now, onto the meat and potatoes. In 92 and 93 the Daytona came with four engine types. The popular choices were a 2.5 N/A and 3.0 N/A which came in the Daytona, ES and IROC. The 2.5 Turbo I ( 92 only) in the IROC and 2.2 Turbo III came in the IROC R/T. Believe it or not, the 2.5 TI is rarest motor of the three motors offered on the IROCs. Check out the IROC engine page to see all three IROC motors. Since owning this car, I have met plenty of people who have never seen this generation or who weren't able to tell the differences between the models. I will explain what a Daytona IROC and IROC R/T are. The biggest difference between IROCs and R/Ts are the decals on the cars. The IROC came with decals on the doors, 3.0 SOHC decals on the hood and an IROC decal under the Daytona name on the rear bumper. The R/T has badges on the fenders above the rocker panel, just in front of the doors and a R/T right under the right rear tail light. The second difference is that all R/Ts came with ABS brakes standard. This was an option on The IROCs. This is all that distinguish the two. The two models shared all the same options. Now that you can tell the difference between the IROCs and R/Ts, can you tell the difference between a 92 and 93 IROC. No, well then let me tell you. The door decals on a 92 are bigger than the 93s. You can even roughly tell when a 92 Daytona that is red was produced. There are two different color oranges used for the decals. I believe the switch is 1 March. The Daytona IROC was offered with two motors. The most popular motor is the SOHC 3.0L motor. This motor is rated at the factory with 141hp and 171 lbs. of torque. With some work and help this motor can easily produce 175hp. Now I can prove it. Check out my dyno page to see pictures and print outs. Remember that the dyno measures hp a the wheels. Now lets see if I can make more power to get into the 14s. The unknown motor is the 2.5 Turbo I motor that makes 150hp and 200 lbs of torque. ![]() Follow this link to go to my Daytona IROC R/T page. When is the last time you have ever seen a twin engine car. If you think that would be cool then it must be awesome that someone made a twin engine rampage! Someone actually had the insane idea to create it. Copyright © 1997-2003 by [James Dempsey Jr.]. All rights reserved. |
