Peak Oil
What is it? Why is it important?
What does it mean to "me"?
What is it? - Peak Oil is a geologist's expression of the top of the bell curve of oil production - the only thing left is DOWN the curve's slope... less
production.
Why is it important? - Many experts in geology and particularly in the oil world profess we have already reached "Peak Oil" on the curve and that world
oil production will not keep up with demand as the population grows.
What does it mean to "me"? - Oil as gasoline, Diesel fuel, kerosene, etc. provides for transportation and heating. It is also part of our
lives in plastics, electric power and water distribution, food production, and a multitude of other fields that impact daily life.
It appears by the recent writings of various experts that we may be looking at a serious problem... serious enough that the world's population - and your life - could
be substantially affected.
