The USS Tuscumbia.


Commissioned 5 September 1862. One of three similarly built boats, Chillicothe and Indianola were the others. The Tuscumbia was another another of Brown's ugly designs. She was pretty wide at 75 feet, and mounted an impressive battery of guns, but was poorly built and suffered badly at Grand Gulf, being hit 81 times.
