Class Descriptions Hatha Yoga is physical yoga postures bringing peace to mind and awareness to breath. "Ha-tha" means the sun and moon. These two opposites are blended together in a gentle way.
- Introduction to Hatha Yoga - Great for beginners or anyone that prefers a gentle class. In this class you will learn basic, gentle yoga poses, along with breathing techniques. Modifications may be taught for the physically challenged.
- Level 1 - A slower paced class designed for increasing coordination, strength & flexibility. Ideal for those stiff bodies and those new to yoga.
- Level 2 - Moderately paced class. Focus is on mind, body awareness at this level. Learn to listen to your body through yoga, while gaining balance, strength, & flexibility. This class is for those in Level 1 that are ready to move their practice up a notch.
- Level 3 - For the advanced yogi. Energizing, more challenging poses, with focus remaining on mind, body, & spirit awareness. Level 2 & 3 classes are often taught together.
Note: Combined level classes are instructed with options to remain at one level or increase to the next. Yoga for Seniors is similar to the Level 1 Hatha Yoga Class but slower paced. This class is designed for active seniors. Different props are used in this class to help get the full benefit of yoga, including chairs, walls, blocks, blankets, & yoga straps. If you can climb a flight of stairs, you are in there. Prenatal Yoga to create space for mom & baby, relieve physical tension or discomfort, reduce stress during pregnancy. Relaxation techniques are taught through breath awareness, to prepare the body and mind for child birth. No prior yoga experience is necessary. Mommy & Me / Postnatal Yoga helps create a bond between mom & baby. Class is designed for infants not at the crawling stage yet. Moms & babies will do some poses together. The focus for mom will be to strengthen her muscles from child birth. Bring a baby blanket with you to class. Meditation classes are sometimes combined with relaxation, breathing techniques, & visualization. Progression of this practice can be enhanced in a group setting. You will learn simple, effective ways to calm your mind & emotions & experience a state of inner peacefulness & well- being. Bring a journal to this class. Focus on Healing Through Movement and Dance "The Lebed Method" This is a therapeutic exercise/support group program for anyone who has had any kind of breast surgery, node dissection, radiation, chemotheraphy, or who suffer from chronic fatigue. Program helps reduce the risk of lymphedema, prevent frozen shoulder, and decrease depression. Things to Know Attire: Wear comfortable clothing that you can easily stretch in. Shoes are taken off when you enter the studio. Please do not wear perfume or heavy jewelry. What will you need to bring: Props are provided so you do not need to bring anything. Feel free to bring your own mat if you prefer. Some props for your home practice will be available for sale at the studio Special Needs: Inform the teacher of any health problems or injuries that may be a concern to you. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to your first class to discuss special concerns with the teacher. Meals: It is recommended to avoid eating one to two hours prior to class. Class Courtesy: As a courtesy to your fellow students and your teacher, please arrive on time. If you are late, enter and quietly set up your mat. Turn all cell phones off or on silence mode inside the studio. Thank you!
After Class: Drink plenty of water after your yoga class. This helps flush toxins from your body as they are released through your practice. |
