Comments by owner:

That is the car I have now. It is the 1996 manual transmission model. This car is simply one of the best in its class, and it readily competes with lots of higher end cars costing thousands more. It has a wonderful platform and engine that deliver excellent handling and 140hp of performance. Virtually problem free. Has all comfort features that are available for today's car (see above). Seats are sporty and very comfortable. Clutch is very responsive. Interior is simple and effective. Great stability on turns. Breaking with the 4-wheel disk brakes is very fast. Looks very good.

One problem though, is the way the interior thread on the tires wears out. At perfect alignment and pressure, tire life is drastically cut. Mechanics have told me it is a factory "defect" of the front suspension for all Sentras and 200SXs. Also, at rapid acceleration the steering wheel tends to swerve to the side.

In any case, I think the SE-R is the best choice for having everything in a car, from all comfort features that come to mind, to great performance.

I haven't done any after-market work on my SE-R, although I have been thinking about installing a turbo. I've only changed the tires from the factory recommended 195/55/15 to a lower profile 195/50/15 All-season BF Goodrich Euro TA, Speed rating of H (up to 210 km/h). I've changed the factory stereo to a 35x4 W Panasonic Casette Player with CD changer control with new 360W 9in by 6in Optimus speakers. I have put a shorter rubber antenna and my displays glow with custom SE-R gauges.

My best 0-60 (0-97km/h) time is 8.45s, measured by a "G-Tech Pro" Performance meter device.

Extra Info:

I went to the 2002 LA Autoshow to see the new SE-R model that came out the same year.
Here is a pretty nice pic of the 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R. There have been plenty of changes from my model to this one. For one, it became a sedan, and the most powerful version (SPEC-V) has 180 hp. The new steering wheel and displays are nice. The price also went up.
I didn't really like the new interior though. That has changed for the worse. As well as the shape of the car, especially the back, I think they could've done a much better job.
I won't be upgrading anytime soon, because for my money, my 1996 SE-R is just perfect.
