Jackson Sellers, a professional
writer and editor for a half century, lives in Southern California, but
he can be considered an old Japan hand. As a naval officer, student and
newspaperman, he spent most of his adult youth in that fascinating
country, married a Japanese woman, and then, as an old man, began
vacationing at length in Japan and writing about Japanese history and
culture. His prominent Japanese friends keep him from making too many
mistakes. Now in his 70s, Jackson is retired from the Los Angeles
Times. In the photo above, he clutches his ever-present journal
at a
park in Kichijoji, a Tokyo suburb.

fought against the Japanese in the 1940s, can be purchased from Xlibris.com or almost any
