This is My Carousel. It started with an idea and some scrap 2x4 blocks which became the 8 horses. Then came the platform made of various hardwoods, the center section and then the top. Finally the base, motors, speakers for recorded carousel music and lights. The top rotates about once every three minutes and the horses rotate about six times a minute and do not go up and down. This is one of a kind and, I think, my last since it took nearly a year, off and on, to complete.
This is the finished Carousel. It is about 19" in diameter and about 18" high. It has two motors, two 3 volt transformers for one motor and the lights, two small speakers in the base which connect to an external tape recorder for music.The gold pieces are cast from sculpty clay, baked and then painted. The completed carousel weighs about 20 pounds. It was a long time dream and now it has been completed... Time to move on to new projects.
