Who's Rocky?
Posted by Mark Bombard (mark@turkeyfootband.com) January 15, 2004, 7:16 pm
I am the former "Director of Operations" for Win-TV. I was employed at the station for 4+ years and 11 months ago was fired for what amounted to not being a Pickens team player. I was always a Win-TV team player. The actual reason I was fired was that I informed the Win-TV board that they had a member that was abusing the process, to put it nicely. From that moment on, it was a typical Whistleblower story. Enough Win-TV history... The reason I'm chiming into this forum is that I just read "Rocky's" post. Rocky's post probably won't make it past the censors for long I'm sure, but it occurred to me that some of the people associated with Win-TV might think that "Rocky" was me. It wasn't me people! Although I admit Win-TV and I do have a sorted history, and in fact are still embroiled in a currently ongoing HACTAC investigation because the Win-TV board chose to ignore the statement I submitted on February 18, 2003. And just to answer Win-TV's upcoming reply, saying "the charges were unsubstantiated", at the time I submitted that report, 11 months ago, those charges were all true and the people who actually run Win-TV (the Pickens clan) know that. Rocky's previous post took me by surprise. He/she stated information even I didn't know, and I knew a lot about what went on there. Hence, why I no longer work there. And unlike Rocky, I think new board members are a great idea. As long as they join with an open mind and "open eyes" to what is really going on at Win-TV. And they're not yet another Pickens family member of coarse.

What is up with bringing in more board members?Perhaps more puppets that the executive director can write or in some instances re-write the reports that are submitted to the entire board? I was very happy to see the fact brought out in the open about the hushed up police raid that took place and led to the town actually running WG-21...I have yet to see anyone else inquire about that statement.Furthermore I myself cant stand liars.Clark Pickens claims he quit from a job quite close to home (in the same building)when he was actually fired .YUP thats right he was fired!!Tsk tsk drinking on the job for a state run organization, you should be ashamed of your self, accusing others of being drunk and stoned..Guess you would know. Fred it's to bad you are so young and dont realize that you should stick with the truthfull side of what actually is going on at your place of employment.Dont be afraid to speak the truth especially while good people are being fired and made to look like scum while the real scum is all around you at WIN-TV.Yes I am saying scum,so pleasant to your face yet behind their back they hold the axe...The axe that perhaps would be thrown at you if you did expose the truth in regards to how every allegation has been deemed unsubstantiated against the former president of WIN-TV.I speak of the most recent president prior to Barry. In many ways I feel I am wasting my time typing this, perhaps mostly because of the fact that noone has the cubes to stand up for what is right and truthfull.(at WIN-TV) I also imagine this memo will be deleted as quick as Clark can get his dirty little hands washed up from the reefer he's been rolling. No this isnt from Rick either,in time all will know who the real perpi-traitors are at WIN-TV and it will be a time for the town of Windsor to rejoice and dance in the streets. The people of Windsor should know that the board of directors at WIN-TV is John Pickens. Yes the whole board is told what they should say and how they should feel. Why wasnt the executive director called at his home by the teenaged cameraman,so he could walk to the meeting since he could throw a ball and hit town hall,as he lives that close. O so much lying and deceit from the entire Pickens family. Clarke why is your wife not using your last name?Perhaps it spares her much aggravation, and is convient to shroud things from people such as HACTAC and other organizations you folks have lied to constantly and are still doing so to this day?? The truth will come out and when it does the whole Pickens clan will be sobbing on each others shoulders grieving about what the real truth has brought them. You can only lie so much until it bites you. It is a shame the board holds so many long time family friends and neighbors of the Pickens. If the town people only knew what coniving scheming criminals you really are.. Chow for now

Public On The Board.
Posted by Melanie Russell () January 15, 2004, 4:15 am
Mr. McNamara: I am truly interested in finding out what you know about the rules and regulations of the DPUC and HACTAC as far as their rules that you apparently know about having to have public vote on things, and be in the board meetings. Please clarify, I am very interested, as I have read the franchise agreement several times, and have not found it to be as apparent as it is to you. Thank you very much. -Melanie
So much for non censorship

1> First of all WinTv is copywriten by Win TV Australia "The Win Television Network has the largest terrestrial coverage of any television group in Australia and possibly the world" and Hauppauge Win TV, as well as dozens of other companies and organizations. If I have committed a crime arrest me, sue me, you guys have certainly shown how benevolent you are by having me blacklisted in an illegal contract with the Town of Windsor, cancelled my TV show with Don Trinks, broke my contact for Web site development without any due cause, threatened my family and somehow lost the records of my kids after school volunteer work for the Station.

2>The files for non profit status was the responsibility of Tom Donahue, of which I contacted him and (later) your Father on a number of occasions. The fact that the station was acting illegally was Mr. Donahue's oversight as well as your Fathers. Yes I was fired for insubordination-I refused to stop a fund raiser for the Station that half of the Board supported and the other half did not. I would have survived this controversy if the story did not hit the papers, however, someone with way more connections than I got the Hartford Courant involved.

3> John was hired at $20/hour, nearly twice what I was paid. That is on the record. I did take your advice and asked my children about your comments-the responded by saying that you are way over the top on that one. That I should not even respond to such a comment and walk away.

4> Your incompetence in managing the web site is well documented-sorry but again the records I have will speak volumes. I do not usually take an amateur and volunteer (as you claim to be) to task but your reworking of the site left it unusable for a few months.

5> I was commissioned by the Board of Windsor Community Television to explore the future of both the Government and Educational channels. My reports to the Board are consistent with the current situation. I did not ever work for the Government Channel nor have ever been employed by the Government channel during the time you entered into what I would call a questionable legal contract. This contract excluded Gary and myself from working on the Government Channel because we were former employees of Windsor Community television.

6> You are right, I have not spoken to the folks at the Government channel in over two years other than to exchange greetings at social events or for Shad Derby news.

7> What agreements you have made with the Town are not public and therefore I am incapable of commenting.

8 > Your budget is well known, however your agenda is not. May I suggest that you propose one.

9> You have one of the best equipped stations in the country. You pay no rent and enjoy quite a nice yearly budget from Comcast, the BOE and the Town of Windsor. You have the opportunity to grow that budget by producing a salable product. I want to get something straight here, I get zero satisfaction dealing with you and the station. For some stupid reason I believe in Community Television and I am worried about my Town's Station. My concerns came long before you and your Father took over the Station. I have known for years that just a few folks controlled this resource. For the year that I was there the doors were always open and no one was unwelcome. The Board was then as it is now, a small group of people that control and who can have a voice or a vote at the table. If someone is not approved by the handful of folks that control the Board they will not get on the Board. According to the DPUC this is not how Public Access was supposed to be administered. I challenge the legality of the current administration as the station was never voted on by the public to be the PEG Administrators-it was only recognized as the Public Access Channel. You have yet to prove that you are the De Facto PEG Administrators as defined by the franchise agreement with the State of Connecticut as you have officially been appointed as such by the Citizens of the Town or the Cable subscribers. I fully understand that I will be banished from this site and I am proud to be counted among those who will confront injustice regardless of the consequences. However being banished from here is no disgrace. I will present the Board of Windsor Community Television with the Documents and recordings that I have that will indeed show that I am not just making this stuff up. I have volumes of e-mails, the gag order I was forced to sign, the articles from the Hartford Courant that appeared after my "resignation" that were in direct violation of the terms of our contract. The credit card bills for the domain name, the contact for services, the real story about the non-profit status, pictues of the station before I took over, after i took over, videos of the disgracefull appearence of the station after I left, corispondences with Mr Pickens on the termination of my show with Don Trinks (which happened before I decided to withdraw my donation of the domain name, which I aquired on my own time and was never compensated for-for which I have the time it was registered and the date.) The complete Station Manager reports which were submitted to the Board (when they bothered to show up) a host of endorsements (including one from Mr. Pickens) as well as a complete list of donations of time and equipment provided by Suzanne and I to the station for no cost and no compensation of any kind. Plus I have a few surprises involving some pay outs to Board members (which is illegal, even if it is to set up network, or take on temporary administration of the station) and some other real eye openers. I hope you have been open with your current Board because I think they do not know half of what has been happening at the station. I feel really bad for the folks that produce shows (like Fred and Cyrstal) that have no idea what is happening-they like myself only are there to create. I especially regret that Fred did not get the story striaght at my moving sale-that has lead to all this, no?

Here are the facts rick,……………

1. Win-Tv paid for that domain name and we have the receipt and the cancelled check to prove it. Even if we did not, you aquired the name as an employee of win-tv, and therefore do not own the name. Also, WinTv is a registered copyrighted name and we own all rights to it. Anyone buying a website domain name with that name has to give it to us by law. Trying to sell the name to us or anyone else is a felony. So you lose four ways……………….

2. As I said, you were fired for insubordination. Not your gross mismanagement, like never sending the paperwork for a non-profit status. We had to do that right after you left. ………………………

3. John Pickens had nothing to do with you’re termination. He was asked to be the new manager because he was the only board member with 35 years experience in management and grant writing. He did the job FOR FREE for several years. My father never did anything to your family or career. You’re problems with your family are your own doing, Ask your kids.………………………….

4. I was asked to do the website over because it was so badly unusable. You never updated the site with what the board wanted but used it to publicly badmouth the board. That is why they asked Kim if she could fix it, and she told them I could do it. The board asked me to change the site all around so that it would do the things they wanted. ………I was never paid for that…….. I am still not paid for anything to do with the website. The only thing I was ever paid for was building a network and office communication system, for a one time fee, before I was on the board……………..

5. Once again you admit to helping the town “take responsibility for their own channel”. This was illegal according to our delegation agreement. You are the cause of the letter finally being sent. We were going to let the agreement go on and try to communicate better with the town on the violations of the agreement. When we heard that you might have been working for them, we immediately drafted the letter to rewrite the agreement. So I hope the town sees these words, “You brought this problem on the town with your big mouth.” ………………..

6. The four people who run the government channel said they hadn’t heard from you in over a year. I guess you were just lying again………………………

7. We met with the Town Manager and the Town’s Attorney, and new agreements are being made with more cooperation and teamwork than ever before. We are in similar discussions with the Board of Ed. Soon the Town, and the Board of Ed, and Win-TV will be working together as a team for the good of the citizens, the students, and the community………………………

8. You apparently have no idea what the Board of Ed gives us, or what Comcast gives us. There is no other body that has 2 full time employees and one part time employee and a yearly budget of $65,000. In order to be effective in the community we need a budget of about $100,000 a year. Asking the town to put up more than ten percent is not “Extorting the town”. There was never any “or else” language in the letter to the council. The same letter offered a new agreement that is now being written. The delegation agreement is being replaced, not cancelled……………………

9. Our mission is for the town of Windsor. Windsor’s cable subscribers make up 93% of homes in town. Those who don’t have cable are still part of our mission. Therefore it is not unreasonable to ask the town for more money. Hartford, Bloomfield, Simsbury, East Hartford and West Hartford all give their PEG providers more than twice what we get from our town………………

Rick, You will not use this website too to bash our board or the station. Until now we have never said anything about you publicly, as you continued to bash us for 5 years. If you want to talk nice and offer ideas that is great, and welcome……………….

Any more bashing will be removed from this forum.

response to Concerned citizen

To the concerned citizen all citizens of the Town of Windsor are welcome to express their opinions. WIN-TV does not condone the actions of the former station manager but he is welcome to say what he wishes as is any other citizen. WIN-TV does not censor shows that are produced at WIN-TV and all members of the community are welcome to come in and do a show and voice their opinions as well. Many of the issues discussed on the message board are not valid concerns since these issues have been put to rest years ago. The WIN-TV Board of Directors makes all decisions concerning the operations of WIN-TV. Currently we have 8 Board members with openings for 5 more. During the next Board of Directors meeting Board members will be voting to bring in 3 more applicants to the Board of Directos. The process to become a Board of Directors member is simple, come into the station or talk with a member of the nominating committee which consists of 2 Board members, They are: Barry Tuttle, and Pat Jackson. Prospective members will be asked to fill out a short form. The form will be submitted to the Full Board of Directors for discussion and then voted upon. All prospective members will be notified in writing of the decisions made by the current Board of Directors of WIN-TV. It should be noted that all current Board members are residents of the Town of Windsor and are a very diverse group of people. WIN-TV welcomes all community members to attend Board meetings and make public comments. The WIN-TV Board meetings are open to the public and will hear public comments at every Board meeting (if there are any comments).

To clarify Rick's question as to whether or not students are recieving high school credit for their internships the answer is yes they are and have been for more than 2 years and will continue to do so. As for ownership of the old WEB site there is documaentation at the station that proves WIN-TV did in fact pay for the domain name of wintv.org (not Rick as implied).

I only found out about this forum a few days ago. There is only one way to assure that our money is being spent wisely is to have an open public discussion as to the determination of the PEG administration. I for one feel that this issue should have a much broader audience participation as Comcast pays the Station close to $60,000 per year. The Board of Education pays $10,000 and the Town pays $6,000(?). Either way are we getting what we deserve? According to Mr Pickens we are short changing his administration and in protest they propose to punish the Town. Since then Windsor Community Television has been back peddling~ a pattern all to familiar in politics. I admit being foolishly too involved in this Station as there are far more important issues to deal with, but if the people cannot have a forum, as I was denied to give the people of Windsor, shall we not fight back? My uncensored show that I had with then Councilman Don Trinks was yanked from Windsor Community Television by Mr Pickens. He also hired his son Clark to take over the web site I was commissioned to adminster. This is just the tip of the iceburg. I niether take delight or pleasure in this discourse, it is a weary path with no apparent resolution. Every so often I am approached at the Market or Social events by folks who do not agree that the Board was correct by letting me go. If only folks realized how spiteful and superficial the administration(s) of WCT is, the pain they have inflicted and the time we have lost.........

To Fred, Crystal and the other producers

I am very sorry to have offended you. I want to make it clear to you and everyone who works at Windsor Community Television that I am very proud of the work you are doing and you deserve credit for your efforts. When I was Station Manager I encouraged students to come and use the Station, Broadcast their own shows and we would have regular meetings on how to be more professional in our approach, being more aware of our society and how to make the shows more entertaining. Fred, you stayed with the station after I was forced out and I thought we had a pretty good relationship. You, as well as Crystal have a raw talent that enables you to produce acceptable, even brilliant (from the reviews I get from Shoe) productions. My fight is not against you, but your management that has yet to see the potential of the Station. I would ask you to contact me whenever you wish so that you can understand what it is I did at the Station and my aspirations for the Station. I am not a perfect person, but I believe that I am perfect for the position of Director at Windsor Community Television. Before I arrived at the Station there were no call in shows, no student involvement (to the degree we introduced), no live afternoon shows. These were things that I felt were important, to give students a voice, a forum. There were so many students that helped make the shows and often we got in a little trouble. We had a learning curve. One of the things I am most happy with is that you guys are still being creative. However I am concerned that you may not be getting school credits (which many of our interns received) and I am afraid that the lack of an industry professional (at the station) may actually be hurting your ability to learn new concepts. Even though I have been at this for about 30 years now I value that extra edge a good education gives me. Nobody needs or wants a critic, but information is always useful. On a personal note, Clarke pointed out my terrible financial situation. While I was at the Station I only made about $400/week. After paying rent that left us about $125/week to pay bills and buy food. Since my departure from Windsor Community Television I have continued to work in the Media Business and it is not always easy. Actually it is never easy. I work for some pretty famous people and many local businesses. I have lived in Windsor most of my life, graduated from WHS in 1974. My daughter Feyla will graduate from WHS this year. Even though Suzanne and I could fair much better elsewhere we choose to stay here so that our kids could benefit from the same experience we had as kids. I have always tried to volunteer my time and help this community prosper. In this day and age when money is more important than morals I am an outsider. I guess I have always been a bit of a hippy, I believe in my fellow man, I am a little bit naive and it takes a lot to make me mad. Please do not mistake my argument with the management of Windsor Community Television as an attack on you personally. As I told Fred I helped the Government take responsibility for their own channel, I will do the same for the Educational Community. That means that we will need more students to study this craft and launch careers in the communications field. You will not have to work for free in the shadows forever. Keep the faith. You are much cared for.

The Current Situation

I do not know Mr. McNamara, and have never met him. As such, I have not heard both sides of this story that is being discussed on this message board. I was wondering if someone at WIN-TV could post back in response to Mr.McNamara's posts, and behavior towards WIN-TV, for example the telephone calls to our Mayor's show last night. Is this behavior valid? -A Concerned Citizen

I would like to begin by saying (To Rick McNamara, if you are reading this,) that it is a flat-out lie that you have tried to put the past behind you. No one is trying to make you remember it, the only one still bringing it up is you. If you had truly put the past behind you, you would not harrass WIN-TV with lies to the Town Council such as the "current goings on" at WIN-TV that "are not conducive to running a television station" (if you argue that you said that, town meetings are on tape at channel 21 so you can check yourself!) You haven't been in WIN-TV in a long time, so you would clearly have no way of knowing the current goings-on at WIN-TV. I was watching the mayor's call-in show last night, and i can confidently say that if you had put the past behind you, you also wouldn't have harrassed the personalities with your incessant and obnoxious call backs. The station and the show are for the town, not just you! Where do you get off telling them what to discuss when, and interrupting important town issues such as the sanitary landfill?(NOT dump.) It is well-known to many that you are angry with WIN-TV for the way you left, which is a secret to some, since your story is not at all what happened. It is also well known that many allegations you have made have been proven to be false, or were obviously false from the beginning. Also, where do you get off slandering the current board when, as Clark Pickens said, the members of the current WIN-TV Board of Directors are not the members that were on the board when you were there. There are alot of things you need to clear up for yourself, but maybe you could start by stopping the lies, including those to yourself. It is obvious that your history with WIN-TV is not your only problem. If WIN-TV were any other corporation, they probably would have sued you twice over for slander, and had you thrown in jail a few times. You should be so thankful that the current board members have not resorted to legal action, but simply put up with your lies, and slander. I am also impressed with the Town Council's patience with you, although I suppose they have no choice... they do have to listen to us town residents during the three minute comment time. I sincerely hope you stop blaming everyone in your past and those at WIN-TV for your issues, and stop yourself from pushing someone over the edge and into legal action. For clarification, since there has been so much miscommunication, this is not a WIN-TV Board Member or Employee or Former WIN-TV Board Member or Employee; and this is not a government official. So don't bother to attack them verbally for my correct opinions.

Twisted system
Posted by Rick McNamara (rickm@ctaccessbb.com) January 13, 2004, 12:55 pm
As I told your lawyer-I welcome you to press charges against me. The documents I have will hold up against your half truths. The fact of the matter is that you are the ones who hijacked the Station. Everyone in Town knows it. Clarke-you weren't even at the Station when I acquired the domain name wintv.org. I used my own money to get the name, set up the site and used my own e-mail account for the Station use. I used my own cameras for six months while I waited for the board to acquire field cameras, with no compensation. I have letters of recommendation from the entire Board of Windsor Community Television, the Town Council, The Windsor Chamber of Commerce, First Town Downtown and countless individuals including our State Representatives and Congressman. My difficulty with the Board started shortly after Mr. Pickens joined Windsor Community Television and centered on a fund raising dispute. Before that dispute (which lasted three weeks) I was held in high regard-I admit that I was firmly at odds with some on the Board and was dismissed for my convictions, not mismanagement. All this is well documented. I am afraid it is you that does not have your facts straight and it is time that we settle this dispute once and for all. Your actions against me are foundless, slanderous and liable. I am not a madman but you have made me quite mad man. Your accusations are nothing more than name calling. I own the name wintv.org and I paid for it. Windsor Community Television paid me for web services rendered after I was forced out of my position, Windsor Community Television paid for the years worth of web site hosting. Neither the materials or the web site hosting was effected by my retention of the domain name that I paid for. I offered to sell the name back to the station but you refused. After what your Father did to my family and career I have tried to put this all behind me. The fact of the matter is that you indeed are blackmailing the Town and you did not think that anyone would get wind of it. Kind of like that Police Raid that you got hushed up. So go ahead-I am ready to face you down with facts, not the name calling fiction you have posted here. By the way-many folks do laugh with me.

Posted by Clark Pickens () January 13, 2004, 11:38 am

First of all, Rick McNamara as usual is spouting things about which he has no clue. He needs to get some facts before he opens his mouth. There was never any mention of $50,000 in our letter to the Town Manager. We asked for funding that was promised before and not received in the amount of $13,000 per year. ( what we used to get) In proposing a new agreement, we asked for a one time upgrade that would cost $15,000 to support running a three way consortium with the Town, and the Board of Education, and Win-TV. Mr. McNamara was part of the reason for the Board’s cancellation of the town’s delegation agreement. He was not allowed to be involved with any part of the government channel and told us that he was helping them. That prompted the letter about the other violations of the agreement. Mr. Macnamara’s sad list of problems was brought by himself and his own mismanagement. After he was fired for insubordination he stole our Domain Name of wintv.org (which was paid for by win-tv) and used the website to slander us with lies and outright threats. He is therefore a criminal and is not allowed at our studios. He was never contracted to do anything for us and would never be allowed to. He has shown up at Town Council meetings drunk and stoned and makes a fool of himself by spouting comments that have no relevance. He goes on about the board that fired him 5 years ago and doesn’t even realize that all those board members are no longer with us. He thinks that showing someone how to use a camera is “launching a career”. He has not launched any careers, nor has he placed any jobs for anyone. How can Mr. McNamara talk about Kim Blake (her last name is not Pickens) when she was hired by Rick himself 5 years ago. He calls himself an experienced professional, What training did he have? He is just a fool with a camera who mismanaged the station and got fired. That is his total “experience” Take a look at www.wintv.org (which he stole from us) and see that he calls himself a non-profit when they are not listed as such by any state or federal body. (also illegal) We don’t need to defend against the ravings of a lunatic, but for clarification I will offer these facts in our defense: The so called “stranglehold” by the current station manager is rediculous. He is an employee of the Board and can only do what the Board tells him. Three of our board members have Media related jobs, the rest are chosen for their other talents. None were on the board when Rick was fired, and don’t even know who he is. (They are taken aback by the comments of this Madman Mr. McNamara) Bands on the road was never more than 10 percent of our programming, but has been well received in many other towns. (At one time 28 towns were airing our show.) When Mr. McNamara stole our website we didn’t have him arrested and didn’t even sue him. We let him get away with it. How is that causing financial ruin? The station does not operate behind closed doors. Any resident of the town of Windsor (Who is not a former employee or criminal) is welcome to watch our tapings, or create their own show. They can come and borrow camera equipment and be taught how to use it, They can come to board meetings and see what goes on. Mr. McNamara is not a taxpayer of Windsor because he does not own any property. His beat up old car probably taxes him about $5 a year. Mr. McNamara has been annoying many people for many years now. People who get his E-mails either delete them right off or read them for a laugh. People he tries to talk to just smile and nod and back away slowly. If Mr. McNamara continues to slander people he has never even met and continues to make up vicious lies about Win-TV, he will find himself in court losing everything he owns and ending up in jail.

The unfortunate situation
Posted by Rick McNamara (rickm@ctaccessbb.com) January 12, 2004, 10:30 am
First of all I want to commend the producers at Windsor Community Television for the Sports, local event and entertainment programming. Windsor Community Television was founded for that very purpose. Unfortunately Windsor Community Television has failed the Greater Community and now threatens our Town Council with punitive actions if the Town Council does not pay the Station $50,000. I am no stranger to the threats and blackmail the emanate from the Windsor Community Television Administrators. Over the weekend I received a threat on my answering machine and in the past I was censored, had material stolen from me and was threatened with financial ruin. I have been told that I would be escorted from LP by the Police and treated like a common criminal because I wanted to get paid for the work I was contracted to do by Windsor Community Television. Over the past three years the Picken's family have managed to get a strangle hold on our Communities Television Station and have used every tactic they could to retain control over the station. Both Mr. Pickens and Kim Pickens receive payment from the Station and this latest ploy to increase the revenues of the Station by denying the Town Government the right to run their own channel (unless they are paid $50,000) is a further demonstration of how Windsor Community Television has completely lost it's sense of worth and direction. I was fired for running what was turning out to be a great fund raiser for Windsor Community Television because the Board seemed to feel that they were entitled to simply collect the money from the Town. One Board member even suggested that they could spend the station into the ground if they wished. For much too long we have let these tyrants take control over a resource that should be the greatest communication tool that we could ever hope for. Like the corrupt farmer, these folks grow too little and charge the Town too much. The Station is run by folks that know nothing about television or media. While the efforts of a few of the students are commendable they lack the guidance an experienced professional could bring. I have successfully launched many careers for students through workshops and continuing education as well as job placement in the entertainment industry. This, along with a vision that includes educational programming, co-operation with the Educational Community, emergency broadcast services, daily updates of the calendars, working with civic organizations and creative fund raising was my foundation at the Station. The fact of the matter is that I had broad support in the Community but faced a Board and Administration that placed their own agenda over what was best for the Community. For nearly two years Bands on the Road was 80 per cent of the Access Programming. While I love Rock and Roll that is pretty excessive. Since that program aired charges had been brought against the station that will soon get a public airing. For too long this Station has been able to operate behind closed doors. It is time that we see how the money that we cable subscribers has been spent. It is time to hold a Town Hearing and take back the Station from this select few. Windsor deserves much better then we are getting~while the few producers should be commended, it takes more than a pretty bow to deliver quality content that has value for the entire Community. Not just a select few. Rick McNamara Former Station Manager and a true believer in real community access More Later..........

okay, after watching the Town Meeting I find it very interesting that some Council members are taking the position that funding should not be provided to non-profits, but at the same time they decided to give $10,000.00 to Huntington House which is a non-profit. They also give $50,000.00 to First Town DownTown each year which is also a non-profit not to mention the many others that recieve support from the Town including special interest groups. Are some of the Town Counicl members taking the position that all non-profits should not recieve funding from the Town? I will be watching carefully so I can make an educated vote at the next elctions.

false information
Posted by anonymous (anonymous) January 12, 2004, 8:31 am
In my opinion the inforamtion reported in the Windsor Journal was false and biased. It is quite clear that corresondence between WIN-TV and the Town Council had been made public to a select few (friends of Council members). The Town Council and the Journal should have refrained from commenting until after the meeting between the Town Manager and WIN-TV took place. I am disappointed in our Local Newspaper and even more disappointed in members of the Council. Our town deserves better.

Personally, I think the Windsor Journal, Jan. 9th 2004 edition, was bias, and the recent article printed was horrible wrong, Ms. Jacqueline Bennett you're horrible journalist, being bias in an article that you have written is not a part of your job description, and you should be fired, and maybe dangled from a mountain, and left there for the crows to peck your eyes out. with all my love, kiss kiss and hugz Crystal :-D

Poor Journalism
Posted by Frederick Wynter - Station Engineer (sarvnoblivion@hotmail.com) January 9, 2004, 3:08 pm
I am sad to say that I am actually disappointed about the article I have read that says that I am a teenage cameraman. Or that Win-TV sent a teenage camera man. I think I know why Jacqueline Bennett of the Windsor Journal wrote something as interesting as this. Maybe this is because she spent the entire time at the council meeting talking very loudly to an anonymous police officer, causing people to turn around and not pay attention to the board meeting. I can see where she could, having done this, mistaken the Win-TV employee who happens to be the Station Engineer with a typical teenage cameraman. Maybe the owners of the Windsor Journal should take the time to hire a real journalist who might actually be paying attenting to her surroundings and what she is writing about. That is all I have to say for now. If I cared to make a stink about what has been said about me then I could do something beyond this, but in my position I feel that taking anymore time out of my day to pay attention to this bad journalist in my opinion would take away from the community which I am trying to serve. I to serve the community more in the future. Actually I am about to go back to do it right now. Talk to you all later.

article in the windsor journal
Posted by Melanie Russell (DoReJustMe@aol.com) January 9, 2004, 3:04 pm
In the latest edition of the Windsor Journal, released January 9th at 1:00pm, Windsor Journal reporter Jacqueline Bennett presented the most one-sided and misinformed article I have ever seen. Those who were at the town council meeting on January 5th would have seen Ms.Bennett and heard her in the back of the chambers talking to a policeman for the entirety of the meeting. Ms. Bennett's presentation of the situation with the Government channel was completely subjective, and is an embarrassment to the Windsor Journal. I wasn't aware that good reporting and informing about town issues included personal opinions as facts. She wrote "In a move that town councilors charge amounts to 'extortion' WIN TV has threatened to retake control of the government station." That is not what what WIN TV "threatened." WIN TV presented issues that arose, and suggested that they be resolved. Also, Ms. Bennett would probably been more informed had she waited for the imperative meeting between Town Manager Leon Churchill and selected members and employees of WIN TV. That meeting had more impact on the resolution of these problems than the town meeting. I am personally appalled at the coverage this issue was given in the Windsor Journal. If it was going to be presented in an article, it should have been presented truthfully, and by someone who had done their research and paid attention at the meetings she attended. Ms. Bennett is a poor example of a correspondent; that title is generous. You would think that a town-focused newspaper would be sure that their information was correct. I am also surprised at the way this situation has been made to look... like a war, which it is not, to those involved and informed.

I believe that the Windsor Journal was not biased at all, and completely one-sided about the article about WIN-TV. Jacqueline Bennett, the woman who wrote the article in the January 9, 2004 edition, was one-sided completely, and I believe all the facts should have been posted. The Journal should have rechecked, and her misrepresentation of the Station was overlooked. Um, yeah... SHOE ROCKS!!! WATCH ME!!!

Christmas Episode
Posted by The Host(and person who everyone sees, and assosciates with the show...) (ib4evairish@yahoo.com) December 25, 2003, 6:51 am
Yeah...ok, if those weren't some of the most embarrassing things in the history of the world, I don't know what is. I'd like everyone to know I had ABSOLUTLY nothing to do with the idiotic cartoons that were on the show for Christmas, and I even objected to their being on the Christmas episode due to their innapropriate nature for a day which we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, not the murdering of a chicken. This was not exactly my vision when we set out to do our Christmas episode, I hope the town of Windsor will understand that. -Brendan McGoldrick, Host of "Shoe"(also the person who gets blamed for anything stupid, or innapropriate that airs, seeing as though more or less it is my show, in the same way Late Night, is Conan O'Brians' show, even if he doesn't actually do the skits).

I was watching WinTV the other day, and I saw this show called Shoe- needless to say it was the funniest show i'ver ever seen in my whole life. This kid Brendan is HILARIOUS! I've never seen such poise, and hilarity, as well as class and good looks from one young up and coming star like this kid. You better get his autograph now before it's worth millions! I know I will! Reponse
Posted by Frederick Wynter - Station Tech (sarvnoblivion@hotmail.com) December 16, 2003, 12:42 pm
Dear Steve, Two things. First you can tell your friend that he or she can come in and do a show, it is free to use the studio as long as we can air the tape. If he does not let us air the tape then there is a hefty equipment charge. Also if he would like to do more than regular for Win-TV then he would need a crew of people to be camerapersons and directors and such. I can train them if they really want to do it. And two, we have a crew of volunteers who are dubing the old copies of southend park to bring it back on tv. And hopefully we can actually do the show again with new episodes since everyone loved it so much. Have a happy holiday. TTyl

Hey Fred, long time no see. I have a question. Would Win-TV do a show for someone outside of town? I was wondering this because an up-and-coming artist I know is trying to get on TV anywhere and other such things. Email me and lemme know more about this stuff. Also, their email is koz@mchush.com if you'd like to contact them as well, mention me as a reference to them. Thanks alot.

If anyone was wondering what was going on with the audio on channels 5 and 22, the cable company is messing with the wires. I've complained to them already expecially since our new little promo from Midnight access is playing. Sorry for the inconvienience. If you would like to help, call the cable company and complain to them with me ;)

Hi to everyone, I hope you utilize the message board. You can used it to tell us your favorite show or when we should play different types of shows. You can ask us questions seeing as we dont have to be here to answer them, we can answer them 24 hours a day. My biggest thing right now though is I am changing the weekly lineup but our surveys never made it out. So to start off I would love you all to tell me what your favorite shows are on Win-TV and when your home so I can air the stuff you want to see when you can actually see them. I got a few phone calls from parents that wanted to see the Windsor VS Glastonbury game but it played while they weren't home. But they all are home at the same time. So I'm adding another day for sports probally on friday evening. Please respond with your feedback.
