Thanksgiving Baskets
On Saturday, November 22, 2008 The Providence Plantations Lions, in conjunction with WPRO Radio and The Buddy Cianci Radio Show, delivered Thanksgiving baskets to the needy in the Providence area.The members collected turkeys and all the fixngs for 30 complete baskets. The club also delivered 10 turkeys to the Holy Rosary Food Pantry in Fox Point to finish their baskets. The baskets were a change from the annual Thanksgiving meal that has been prepared for the needy on Thanksgiving for the last 30 plus years. The club looks to build on this event in the coming years.

On October 3, 2008 The Providence Plantations Lions honored two members of the club for their many years of service and dedication to the organization and to the community. Lion Cornell Young and Lion Frank Fiore were each presented "The Melvin Jones Award" at a dinner reception at Lancellotta's Restaurant. The award is the most prestigious award in lionism. Congratulations to both men!!!

A Wish Come True 2008
A Wish Come True
The Providence Plantations Lions Club presented a $500.00 check to "A Wish Come True" in honor of John Erice for all the help he has given our club over the years. The check was accepted by Rosemary Bowers, the Rhode Island Coordinator of "A Wish Come True". The organization helps grant wishes to critically ill children.

Giant Liquor Wagon
The club is currently conducting its annual Raffle Fundraiser this year with first prize a giant wagon full of top shelf liquor. Second and third prizes are wine baskets. The drawing will be held at this year's State Night event in Narragansett.
