MRS. FITZGERALD SERVICES JULY 29


Blairstown -- Funeral services were held Friday morning, July 29, for Mrs. Joe Fitzgerald, at St. John's Catholic Church, Father Joseph Wiehl officiated. Burial was in Calvary cemetery at Van Horne. Pallbearers were John Fitzgerald, Dean Roudabush, Jack Fitzgerald, Richard Oberrueter, Dick Squiers and Corwin Miner.

Mrs. Fitgerald died at the Watts Nursing Home in Marengo Tuesday, July 26, at 3:15 p.m. She had been in ill health for several weeks.

Mrs. Fitzgerald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schallau, was born Aug. 25, 1883 at Atkins. She was united in marriage Oct. 7, 1905, to Joe Fitzgerald at Van Horne. They made their home on farms at Van Horne and Luzerne until three years ago when they moved to Blairstown. She was a member of St. John's Catholic church.

She was preceded in death by two infant children and her parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Surviving to mourn her loss are her husband and children, Mrs. Mae Miner, Luzerne, Mrs. Bernice Baker, Blairstown, John Fitzgerald, Marion, Mrs. Agnes Oberreuter, Watkins, Mrs. Florence Roudabush, Belle Plaine, Donald Fitzgerald, Vinton, Mrs. Marguerite Thys, Hartwick, Raphael Fitzgerald, Luzerne, Mrs. Ruth Squiers, Cresco, and Mrs. Irene Schroeder, Fergus Falls, Minn.

One sister, Mrs. Ed Kelly, Vinton, and one brother, Charles Schallau, Grinnell, 30 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends also mourn her loss.

Attending services from a distance were Mrs. Ed Fitzgerald, Mr. and Mrs. George Fitzgerald, Mrs. Phil Reese of Des Moines, Mrs. Hilda Coomes of Wausa, Wis., Bibiance Schallau of Sutherland, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cantwell, Mrs. Leon Weber of Cedar Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schallau of Grinnell.
