Questions & Answers
Do I need to be a dealer to order directly from Windswept Fine Art?Yes, Windswept Fine Art sells only through art and framing retailers. If you would like a referral to a dealer in your area where you can purchase the art you see on this site email dealer referrals with your city and state or ask your art and framing retailer to order for you. Back to TopWhat is a giclee?(pronounced "gee-clay") (some pronounce it "zee-clay" or "gic-lay" or can’t pronounce it at all) A giclee is a term coined in the past few years to refer to any art print produced with a high performance wide format ink jet printer. All the new Windswept Fine Art editions released since 99 are giclees. Windswept Fine Art giclees are printed with a Roland Hi Fi jet which uses extremely fade resistant pigmented inks and 6 color hexachrome printing technology. The Roland Hi Fi jet reproduces giclees both on water color paper or canvas with better color fidelity and resolution than possible with offset lithography Back to TopWhat is an offset lithograph?(also referred to as
"offset," "offset litho," or "litho") A offset
lithograph is any art print printed on a commercial offset printing press. These
presses are huge and can be up to 40 feet long and cost several million dollars.
High quality inks and paper are used to reproduce art, however, this is the same
type of presses used to print most full color commercial work such as brochures,
magazines, etc. Back to TopWhat artist do you publish?Currently Windswept Fine Art primarily
publishes prints by Phil Capen. Giclees
by Lori Lynne and Henry Peter are also available. Back to TopDoes Windswept Fine Art still publish offset lithographs or just giclees? The new digital printing
technology hitting the market in the last few years has made printing on the
traditional offset presses obsolete. Windswept Fine Art prints all of
their new editions as giclees. All of the
previously published editions of offset lithographs that haven't sold out are
still available from Windswept Fine Art. Back to TopWhy do giclees by Windswept Fine Art cost less than giclees from other publishers? We have invested in our own
equipment to provide high quality art reproductions at about the same price
points as offset lithographs. Most other publishers outsource the printing
of their giclees which forces them to charge a much higher retail price to make
a decent profit. By producing in house Windswept Fine Art cuts out the
middle man and passes on more value to the customer. Like other
quality publishers, Windswept Fine Art uses only the highest quality
materials and equipment to reproduce art. (What
