History
The United
Jewish Community of the Virginia Penisula in
Newport News has been hosting
this race to benefit the JCC
Early Childhood
Development Center for over 22 years. Race day is
filled with activities for the whole family including
a 1 mile fun run/walk, a 50 yard dash for kids where
everyone is a winner, and a 5K race for those more
serious runners. The 5K Race is an “Out and
Back” course. We will have face-painting for
kids, trophies for various age group winners of the
races, and a chance to win great door prizes.
All registered runners and walker
who are at the race are eligible to win great door
prizes donated by local merchants..
The race is held rain or shine. Each registered
runner receives a T-shirt and is entered into a
drawing to win door prizes. Complimentary refreshments
will be available at the end of the race.
All proceeds of the race will benefit the JCC
Preschools in Newport News and Williamsburg to
improve programming, purchase supplies and help
maintain the great learning environment that makes
the preschools such great places for little ones
to develop.

Schedule
On the day of the race, all participants should
plan to arrive at Newport News Jewish Community
Center, 2700 Spring Road, between 8:30am and
9:45am, rain or shine.
The 1 mile race will start at 10:00 am. The 5K
race starts at 10:30.
Door prizes will be drawn after the 5K race while
the results are being printed. Everyone is invited
to the celebration at the conclusion of the race
-- refreshments will be served and awards for runners
will be presented.
