Granbury, Texas is located about 25 miles southwest of Ft.Worth, Texas and is a town full of quaint little stores and is a shopper's paradise. It also hosts a great airport and is home to Pecan Plantation, an aviation community that houses many aviation enthusiasts. Barb and Steve Wilson, who live on Pecan Plantation, hosted this year's RRSW Fall Gathering and it was outstanding. We based our operations from the "Sleep Inn" hotel which was new and very reasonable.

Because of our proximity to Ft. Worth, Texas we are privileged to some Globe history and were blessed with the presence of Tom Kennedy, son of Globe founder John Kennedy, along with his two sons Dan and John Jay. Great grandson Clay was also on board. Tom also brought along some old pictures of the "Globe Days" for us to enjoy.

Our food was cooked on site at the airport by highly trained culinary experts and Swifters Alan Dicker, Hal Cope, and Keith Richbourg. I still do not know how to beat a hamburger cooked outdoors at an airport.

Ed Lloyd spent two full days instructing formation skills and four members received new cards or category upgrades to their existing qualifications. Jim Frazee, Alan Dicker are now certified wingmen. Dave Anderson and Wade Gillaspie were upgraded to element lead. Thursday evening was spent at the Pasta Fina Restaurant and great fellowship was enjoyed by all. Friday Evening was spent at "The Jalapeno Tree" Mexican Restaurant and was another exciting evening.

Saturday was filled with flying and fun. A large group of Swifts went to Breckinridge, Tx. in the morning, back for airport burgers at noon, and then more flying in the afternoon.

Saturday evening was topped off with our banquet at Steve and Barb Wilson's home in Pecan Plantation. We were actually in their new hangar addition which is beautiful. We later were treated to a view of new member, Doug Brown's, project Swift, which is located a few houses from Steve. After viewing Doug's airplane we walked a couple of houses back and were invited by Dick Keyt to view his famous Polen Special which is based at Pecan. This is the little airplane that goes over 300 mph on an O-360 Lyc. What a piece of aerodynamic perfection.
