NORFOLK COUNTY, VIRGINIA -- 1853

This is the death index for the year 1853. I got the information from the microfilm copy at the library. Here,  I have included only thoses records which I could read clearly from off of the microfilm copy. Cause of Death was sometimes difficult to read, I tried to spell it as it was written.

I am including the name, race (W=white Colored= F=Free S= Slave), sex, date of death, cause of death, if I could read it, and approx. age.

Please keep in mind, that the records, many times, were not completed.
In most cases, there was very little extra information about the slaves.

The further information, not included here, may include: names of parents, place of birth, place of death, occupation, spouse, and source of information.

The '*' means that it was a little difficult to see and this is what I 'think' it says.
