Some of the Squad Leader and Great Campaigns Of The Civil War games we played with Bruno Cossette in Montreal.
'FIRST TO STRIKE' - modified DASL scenario 4 Stalingrad, October 7, 1942. German assault on the Tractor Works. Bruno played the Russians, I played the Germans.
The german offensive takes shape, with frontal armor assault by Pzkw III and StgIII and a left flanking manoeuvre by two platoons along the gully.
Teufel ! The Russians had a 45 mm AT gun hidden in the building across the street and inflicted heavy losses on the Panzers. But it was too close to the German infantry and was overwelmed by a Close Combat assault under cover of smoke. Eventually, the left (and then right armor) flanking manoeuvres plus fierce house to house fighting in the center collapsed the russian defence.
'CLASH OF THE TITANS' - DYO scenario The Vistula, Sandomierz area, August 1944. A platoon of Pzkw VI Ausf B Tiger II of sPz.Abt 501 and supporting infantry is attacked by JS-II's and T-34's of 2nd Lieutenant Oskin of the 53rd Guards Tank Brigade.
Too many T-34's, too few Panzers ! The 'Koenig Tigers' make a last stand behind a hedge and die gloriously... But not before knocking out 7 russians tanks !
Bruno contemplates his victory ...
A picture from the real battle. Russians soldiers inspecting a captured Tiger II.
Great Campaigns Of The American Civil War: The maps from several modules are joined to portray the whole Northern Virginia front.
Stay tuned for close-up pictures of my GHQ Tanks pewter miniatures, as soon as I can lay my hands on a camera capable of macro-photography...
