My Mood:

My girls went for a day of beauty today!!! It was verra strange to not have them here with me and "Elizah", but LOOK at how beautiful they are!

Lovie called today from the prison and ask me if I still wanted a tuxedo cat!?!?!?! I said YES!!! A friend of his had rescued three after Katrina outside the prison and had one male left. We named him "Felix", he is not sure about the puppy kids yet, but I am sure they will get along, at least I HOPE so! Meet "Felix"!

He is on the love seat, "Belle" is on the sofa. "Elizah" is under the bed and "Lexi" is under Lovie's chair! I am curious to see what is going to take place at bed time! Who will sleep where? Have a giggly night!

My Mood:

I really do not know how much more I can take! I feel like running away! We rode Rita out in our house! Everything was ok, but it was TOOO nerve racking! Taylor and his mom came to stay with us, we ate dinner watched tv, Taylor and Lovie played computer games, ect...Everything was going great, then the wind started! It was blowing so hard you could hear it through the door and windows. A few times it would sound so bad, I would mute the tv and my sister-in-law and I would just stare at each other! It was SCARY! We lost lights at 11pm, Lovie did not want to open the door and loose the cool air. My sister-in-law went to the extra bedroom to get some sleep, she had to leave for work at 5am. Taylor, Lovie and I sleep in the living room. After a while we had to open the doors and get a breeze!
I woke up around 10 and found Lovie in our bed, and Taylor awake playing with the pups. I went to look outside at the front door, most of our screen was blow loose! As I was standing there a hummingbird came in and flew up to the garland I have around our door, I looked at him and told him these were not real flowers! He was just inches from my face! I have never seen one close up, it was amazing!!!! He flew away to go back out and got stuck on a panel that still had the screen intact, Taylor and I tried to get him to fly down and around but we couldn't. We woke up Lovie to help us, he pushed the screen loose to let him go, dahhhh we could have done that!!!
We went to town to find somewhere open to eat. We had Burger King then to Sonic for a Blast! yummy! When we got back the lights were back on!!!!! We all took a hot shower then settled in for some tv, computer and air conditioning!! I went down for a nap and left the boys playing games. My sister-in-law came to pick Taylor up and guess what?!?!?! The lights went out again!!!!!! We sat here for about 20 minute and Lovie said lets go for a ride! As we got down the rode some we saw the lights come back on, we made a loop around ton and went back home. I do not plan on riding out another one!
Lovie had bought himself a new computer chair, well it was the only one left at Sam's and it was a display, he felt like he was sitting off to one side, so we took it back to another Sam's to exchange it. We went to Shoe Station after and lookie at what I bought!

Of course thy did not have my size in PINK!!! I will have to order them off the net! I LOVE them, they are verra comfy! I plan on buying a few more colors!!!! Lovie wants a pair too, but he is not sure about them yet!! But once he puts them on he will want a pair!!!!
LSU football tonight!!!! The game was postponed from Saturday due to Rita. SOOooooooo it is all PURPLE and GOLD tonight!!!!! GEAUX TIGAS!!!!

Have a giggly day!

Tearful Goodbye

She sits on the railing of highway 10 passing the time
Has she done something wrong or committed a crime

People pass her not even looking in her eye
No even telling her where they are going or even goodbye

They look down at the body that lies at her feet
Never stopping the line moving down the street

They make the sign of the cross and turn away
As if to say God help you on this day

A child passes with a smile upon his face
He slows his father to a slower pace

He looks at her as if to say
Its ok to go on your way

Don't cry or ever ask why
Just bid the city a tearful goodbye

Spread you wings now and fly
High into heaven in the sky

I know it's hard to leave them all behind
But let me take your worries off your mind

Don't worry about your family and how they will cope
Just know that now they live in the City of Hope

My Mood:

Momma told me my niece was going to be in a clip on Oprah today. I recorded the show, I had missed her on the first part but thank goodness it had recorded the entire episode. I watched it till I found her. I paused it and took a pic of her! This lil girl stole my heart so many years ago, and has earned her wings for sure! I could not be more proud!

Ashley rescuing two babies and partner

I watched the entire Oprah show, and I cried and cried. The bodies floating in the water and on side of the streets is unreal. I wonder how could these bodies be left behind, I understand that some floated away from their loved ones, but to be left dead on side of the road I can not fathom. I am so thankful for what I have and my family! I am holding on verra tight to my family and friends!

My Mood:

All is well here with my family. My niece and her roommate are homeless...Her home was lifted off the pillars, they were renters and luckily have renters insurance! They have found somewhere to live in Baton Rouge close to her parents, now the task is to get in and get their belongings. She is a EMT for Acadian in New Orleans and has been working every other day since Katrina hit. The mental anguish she is dealing with right now is unreal! She loaded 250 bodies yesterday. After this is all over and done with she deserves a vacation!
Chris Mom came from Atlanta which is normally an 8 hour drive., it took her right at 14 hours to get here. Chris' Aunt (his Mom's sister) had water in her home, but not sure how high it went in it. Her husband is in NO volunteering at his friends pizza place and had the chance to get to their house. They are staying with Chris' grandparents in Baton Rouge, the enrolled their boys to start school Tuesday morning.
Chris' Mom and Aunt volunteered in Baton Rouge yesterday at the temp hospital. Momma Linda said it was unreal the people and no supplies! His Aunt is a RN and she worked triage and Momma Linda placed people where they needed to go. They are both going back in the morning.
We have several friends from the campground that are now homeless. The campground had lots of trees down and no power, which means no water for them either. They have been working hard to get it all cleared so the electric company can come in. Some of the ones that lost their homes in NO will be staying at the campground I am sure.
My Mom's cousin lost his home in NO also, he bought it 30 yrs ago for $18,000!!!!! He told my AUnt that he came to Baton Rouge for the storm, and he plans on moving to Shreveport. He doesn't want to go back. I hope he changes his mind, he can not let his spirit break.
I know a lot of people have been glued to the TV watching, I have been. It is unreal what we are seeing. But no one can give up on New Orleans. I have always wanted to live there, the spirit there in over whelming! When you enter the parish you feel it come over you, I am praying that feeling will not die.
The pointing of fingers of whom is to plan needs to stop! They need to worry about getting the rest of the people out. We should take this as a lesson learned. But I do agree with Mayor Neigen, it is a class issue not race! Please keep the Gulf Coast in your prayers!
Saturday was my 38th birthday, we went to visit with my Daddy and Momma for a bit then went to Target. I was surprised they had a lot of people in the store but had plenty of food. They even told all the shoppers to take a bag of ice on their way out. We did not take a bag, we did not need it. We had friends over that night, and then was surprised from my best friend and her family! Everyone had left and I had 40 minutes of my birthday left, Lovie cut me a piece of cake and came in with it and a MATCH for a candle!!!!!!! How could you not love that man?!?!?!?! I had a great birthday!
