The first 15 books in the series are familiar children's stories such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs or original stories such as Rosa the Circus Girl and Annie Meets the ABC's in Alphabet-Land. They are not labeled "Miniature Comics," as are the last six books in the series, which feature such characters as Sheriff Rabbit, Peppy Pup, and Danny Dragon. All of the 21 books in the Volume 1 series say, "This is one of a series of Cracker Jack Miniature Books."

A series of these books, with the same covers and stories and also dated 1964 preceded the Volume 1 set with backs that do not indicate a volume or book number, nor any indication that they are Cracker Jack.

Another set of 20 miniature books (Volume 2) was released in 1966; and an additional set of 20 (Volume 3) served as prizes in 1968. There are no 1966 or 1968 books identified as "Miniature Comics" on the cover. All of the books in these later two series have the "Cracker Jack Miniature Books" statement.

In 1993, a series of 10 replica miniature books, marked CJR4, was released to commemorate Cracker Jack's 100th anniversary. Examples from volumes 1, 2, and 3 were used to make up the 1993 set, including a reproduction of Super Duper Baby. The replicas have only 16 pages (8 sheets), half as many as the originals, and the colors used on the covers are a little different, mostly lighter shades. All of the series of miniature books are illustrated in color throughout.
