Cracker Jack was once a very popular circus concession, and this prize pays homage to the vendors who sold Cracker Jack to the spectators in the stands. Wearing a vendor hat, he is carrying a basketful of Cracker Jack boxes and has one raised in hand.
The prize is one of a series of twelve circus-related prizes that Cracker Jack ordered from NOSCO first in 1951 and again in 1953 and 1954. They are almost 1 3/4" tall and are marked with the NOSCO* copyright on the top of the small bases. These stand-ups are flat and two-dimensional, with the front and back being mirror images of each other.
This series of stand-ups includes circus animals and performers. In addition to the monkey riding the unicycle, there is an elephant, a lion, a seal (though rarely marked NOSCO, if ever), a bugle player from the circus band, a ringmaster, a girl standing tiptoed on a ball, a roller skating bear, a clown standing on his hands, and acrobats.
This series of prizes is made of hard, breakable plastic. These stand-ups are most commonly found in solid colors, but some are marbled, as is the other prize from this series shown below, a boy selling souvenir balloons, canes, and pennants.
