This Rubber Face Cracker Jack prize is 1 1/4" x 1 3/4" and is made of an imprinted rubber sheet affixed to a thick piece of cardboard with a rectangular cut-out. From the back, the prize looks like a cardboard frame. The color of the rubber itself ranges from white to off-white to light gray.

Pressing on the the rubber sheet from underneath causes the face to become distorted, creating some funny effects, much like the warps you get from playing with the image above.

The faces can be found printed in blue, red, green, or black; and there are over 20 different faces in this series. Some of the faces are people, and some are animals; several of the animals are wearing bow ties. Faces include an alligator, a chick, a cow with bell, a football player, a giraffe, a man wearing a top hat, an owl, a robot, a rooster, a skunk, a smiley face, Uncle Sam, and vultures.

Though the Rubber Faces are definitely Cracker Jack prizes, there is no printing on the back to identify them as such. According to Larry White's Cracker Jack Toys, this series is from the early 1960's. But rubber funny faces were used as Cracker Jack prizes as early as 1931. One of these earlier ones is a lady walking a dog.
