Cracker Jack Spacemen and Aliens

     Spacemen and Aliens

...and an Earthling, Too!

Ground Control to Major Jack?

Cracker Jack prizes have often reflected the times during which they were distributed. Given America's heightened interest in space travel in the late fifties and early sixties, it is fitting that Cracker Jack ordered this series of nine three-dimensional spacemen and aliens in 1958. (They were probably not found in Cracker Jack boxes until early 1959.)

The figures are approximately 1 11/16" tall and are made of polyethylene, a sturdy but flexible plastic. These stand-ups were produced by NOSCO Plastics, a division of the National Organ Supply Company. The prizes are marked "C.J.CO." and also have an injection mold slot number on them. Apparently, these prizes only came in the colors shown.

A tenth member of this series ( lower right ) is certainly no alien to Cracker Jack fans. He is our favorite Earthling, Sailor Jack, accompanied by his dog Bingo. Unlike the other pieces in the series which stand on two feet, Jack and Bingo are on a rectangular base.
