A group of Region 3 former student officers and members got together and formed our professional chapter in January 2004. We are chapter #380 the Northwest Arkansas AITP Chapter. Currently we are the only professional chapter in Arkansas. We are located Bentonville but nearby cities include Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville. Currently we have 14 members who represent companies such as Wal-Mart, Wright- line, CompuCom, and colleges such as Northwest Arkansas Community College, and Arkansas State College. We are also members of the Rogers/Lowell chamber of commerce.
Some of the industry in this area of Arkansas includes the national headquarters for Wal-Mart, JB Hunt Trucking Company and Tyson Foods to name a few. Many IT professionals live and work in this area and we hope to reach them all so that we can have a diverse, productive and successful chapter.
We also sponsor and mentor three college chapters in Arkansas:
- Arkansas State University - Student Chapter
- University of Arkansas - Student Chapter
- University of Arkansas at Little Rock - Student Chapter
We plan to work with and mentor the student members of these chapters to help them be successful in their chosen field.
