Biblical answers to questions you and those around you are asking or
should be asking. |

1 IS HISTORY “HIS STORY”? |
|
When we think about God
revealing Himself in history we often think only of God breaking into the human
scene at a specific point in time, like He did when He sent His Son into the
world (Gal. 4:4). While it is true
that God has revealed Himself at specific moments in history, we also
need to remember that it is also true that all of history reveals God. The Bible teaches that God “causes all
things to work together for good to those who love Him, who have been called
according to His purpose” (Rom. 8:28).
This passage teaches that God oversees all of history to bring about
His good purpose and to bless the people He loves. The continual care that God exercises over His creation is
known historically as the doctrine of God’s Providence. |

2 WHERE
IS THIS IN THE BIBLE? |
|
The Bible is packed with
examples of God’s providential care. We
can think of Esther, who was exalted by God to the position of Queen of
Persia so that she could save the Jewish people from annihilation (entire
book of Esther, specifically 4:14).
Or Joseph, who was sold by his brothers into slavery so that God could
use him to deliver all Israel from death (Gen. 37-50, specifically 45:5 &
50:20). The Bible is very clear that
God works in all of history to accomplish His good purpose. |

3 HOW
SHOULD I RESPOND? |
|
It is good to remember the
things God has done on our behalf.
Many of the Psalms show David’s response to meditating on God’s
faithfulness in history. Without
fail, when David thought about God’s faithful and continual care, he always
ended up praising Him (Ps. 63, 65, 66, 105, 106, etc.). This will be our response too if we take
the time to think of all God’s goodness on our behalf. Take time today. |
