201st Edition 03/15/2009
Greetings to all visitors and howdy to all NeW Eastern Warriors. Welcome to the 201st Edition of the {NeW} news, your source for "watsup" with the {NeW} Crew On-line! Well folks, it's been over a year since the last official update, so here's what's up with the Warriors since I last wrote. Last week we saw the abrupt quitting of Vita (f.k.a. {NeW}Vitachick). Her reasoning was that she felt like she was the "only one supporting the tag". I, of course disagreed, as did Thug Sergeant {NeW}Snake and Thug {NeW}Shock, but nevertheless, it's a "free country" and we're all adults here, so via con Dios Vita, and may you look back on your time with us with fond memories.
Moving right along, this recent event prompted Thug {NeW}Shock to ask a very interesting and important question. Specificially - "Which is greater, members that join and don't play anymore or ones that resign?", by which I believe he meant what is the greater "offense" or which is "worse". Well I think this is a great question which the community at large might benefit from an answer, so I will attempt to provide one. But first, a little "background".
When I first starting playing Kingpin - Life of Crime way back in 1999, it was a radically different "online world" than what we see today. Most everyone was connected via 56K dial-up. First Person Shooter games worth a crap were merely a handful of titles. KP was so radically different and violent and gritty and visually compelling that it was like nothing I or many other gamers had ever experienced. The game, along with the "newness" of the internet and gaming against other humans (as opposed to single player only games) made the early days of Kingpin feel like almost an addicition. It was not uncommon to log on to "HEAT" at 2am on a weekday night and find litterally hundereds of players battling it out on KPDM 1-5! In those early days, some of us guys with perhaps a bit too much freetime and a whole lot of love for the game formed a little group called {420}, which was arguably the very first Kingpin Clan on "HEAT". But after a year, that group (like the vast majority of gaming clans in ANY game) began to fall apart, and from the ashes - The NeW Eastern Warriors were formed by myself and "Bubonic". Now I want to make something very clear that I think a LOT of folks have forgotten over the years - Back in the year 2000 when {NeW} became a Crew - NEARLY EVERYONE was saying that Kingpin was "DEAD". NEARLY EVERYONE! It's true! And some of the people who currently play the game actually left back then and have just recently come back. I won't name any names - but YOU KNOW who you are. Y'all got bored with Kingpin back in 2000 or 2001 and moved on to other games. That's OK. That's fine. It's as I said before, a "free country" and there is no law that says somebody must continuously play the same game over and over for 9 straight years LOL! BUT - and this is a VERY BIG "BUTT" hehehe, some of those very same people who LEFT THE GAME YEARS AGO and just (comparatively) recently came back are now the very same ones who complain about the "lack of players" or the "lack of servers" or the "lack of support" or the "lack of .........FILL IN THE BLANK". Well, to those people I say - WHERE WERE YOU in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 when I amd {NeW}Snake and other since retired members of the {NeW}Crew were playing Kingpin? HUH? What do you think WE were doing all of those years while you were gone? Well, in terms of Kingpin - I myself was STILL hosting a website, STILL hosting a Kingpin Server, and STILL maintaining a Kingpin Crew.
Now it is the year 2009 and here is what has changed in my personal life since I first started playing. I divorced my first wife, got remarried, adopted my new wife's son, had a baby with my new wife, underwent major home renovations, and landed a new job which requires me to be away from home far more often than not. DESPITE all of that and despite the fact that most 42 year olds would probably just say - well after all, it's an old game with so few players left and my time is so limited, so I should just give this little "hobby" up - the {NeW}EASTERN WARRIORS are STILL HERE. {NeW}Snake and {NeW}Shock are still active and here I sit at my PC before I must leave for work updating our Crew website.
So back to the original question - what is "worse", quitting the Crew or never playing? HERE is my answer - I understand from personal experience that it is very difficult at best in these challenging economic times to even be able to "play" on the computer, so if a member joins the {NeW} and adheres to our few rules WHENEVER he or she finds time to play the game, then I feel that this is a better situation than someone who still has time to play the game but somehow feels that the {NeW} is not worthy of his or her time. Of ALL of the KINGPIN CLANS or CREWS out there in the world, NOBOBDY can truthfully say that the {NeW} has not "paid our dues" and been a large part of this game and it's community since nearly the very beginning.
So to all Kingpin fans everywhere I say FRAG ON! And may the {NeW} always be here until there is no one else left!

Crew On-line! Well folks, this long anticipated and much appreciated
(I hope LOL!) edition is brought to you by none other than my good friend
and Loyal Thug Sergeant {NeW}Snake,
as he reminded me via email of a promise I made long ago. My time
may be much more limited now, but my love of KINGPIN
and of my fellow Warriors who share the dream of keeping the coolest frickin'
FPS ever made alive compells me to write to you this evening.
Yes, it's true, we
have us a NeW {NeW} Member by the name of {NeW}Growler,
and YES he is the same Growler y'all "old timers" might remember from way
back in the day. Unfortunately, our new Thug may have some computer
problems as of this reading, but I'm sure he'll keep us all wll informed
via THIS FORUM
POST. Anyway, I'm sure I speak for ALL
CREW MEMBERS when I say that Growler is a MOST WELCOME addition to
our group and we look forward to many long days and nights of fraggin with
him (even if he is a dog killer, pass it on LOL!)
So what's "NeW" with
the Crew? Well, I personally would have to say that from my observation,
we currently have the coolest bunch of mature hard core KP fanatics on
the planet in our roster. We don't cheat, we don't bitch and moan,
and we don't smack talk in the servers....3 things that I always detested
in the "old days". And while it's true that there ARE still a few
"fools" left in the mean streets of POISONVILLE,
I can assure all of you dear readers that we {NeW}
are not to be counted as one of them :)
So, to my dear friend
{NeW}Snake,
I say - HERE'S TO YA BROTHER, THIS ONE is for YOU :)
And to my other loyal
Crew members - Shock,
Vita, Misfit, and Growler - THANKS Y'ALL - for making all of the hard
work and expense of trying to have a little fun worthwhile after all of

truly here has been rather busy lately. But NOT too busy to keep
the KP train a rollin LOL! First of all, a big time WELCOME ABOARD
to NeW Member {NeW}Misfit!
Yes indeed, this fellow followed the RECRUITING
rules to perfection and he paid his fraggin dues on our SERVER
for quite a long time, so he earned it! And speaking on behalf of The Crew,
I'd say we've made a wise decision. Serve us well {NeW}Misfit
and we all look forward to fraggin ya for a good long time.

and howdy to all NeW Eastern Warriors. Welcome to the 198th Edition
of the {NeW} news, your source for "watsup" with the {NeW}
Crew On-line! Well folks, I know it's been a couple of weeks
since my last update, but I've been kinda busy so sue me :) So here's
what's been goin on with The Warriors (in no particular order) - {NeW}VitaChick
has been busy in both the SERVER
and the FORUMS.
Of interesting note is her newly created "icon" (self portrait) and her
flaming text name :) Good Job Vita! {NeW}Shock
has been busy fraggin it up in the mornings with Vita as well and I've
even seen the two of them on in the later afternoon a couple of times.
AWESOME ACTIVITY LEVELS y'all. Our good Thug Sergeant {NeW}Snake
has been seen quite a few times also, and it seems the only one missing
all the action lately is me :( SORRY GUYS! (and Gal).
I promise to make more of an effort in the coming days. And in case
the player known as "MISFITS" is reading this - I've seen ya on the server
bud, so I know you have been playing. I just wish I could give ya
a set time and date to meet up with some Crew members, but you'll just
have to play it by ear. My best guess is to try and catch {NeW}Vitachick
in the early morning, as she seems to always have a good game or two going
at that time. I usually try to hop on for a bit in the evening when
I can and on occasionally on the weekends. Anyway, I am still looking
for some interesting/funny SCREENSHOTS from my fellow Warriors, so no semi-world
famous
PIC OF DA WEEK!

Crew On-line! Well folks, I hate to jinx it, but I think we may have
found the optimal settings for the SERVER.
Yup, as judging by the feedback (so far) in our private FORUMS,
it appears that the Warriors
are satisfied with their fraggin field :) Let's hope it stays that way!
Now please be advised that there will always be the issue of LAG.
it's completely unavoidable when playing online games, but hopefully the
major
connection problems have ceased. Moving right along, it seems that
despite all the dating action going on with Lady Thug {NeW}VitaChick,
she has still found the time to frag with us LOL! Thanks Vita :)
We've also seen great activity levels from Thug Sergeant {NeW}Snake
and Thug {NeW}Shock!
In fact, this past Sunday saw ALL of us Warriors
fraggin it up togther :) Good times y'all. The only drag this
week has been the weather around the Louie Ranch :( Yup, we've had
major thunderstorms nearly every day and power has been knocked out THREE
TIMES causing the server to go down each occasion :( Anyway, the
weatherman is predicting clear skies the rest of the week, and I'm predicting
major fraggin for us :)

Crew On-line! Well, well, well.........another "interesting" week in
the land of KP. First off I'd like to say THANKS and WAY TA GO to
my fellow WARRIORS.
All y'all have been extremely active this week on both the FORUMS
and the SERVER.
I only wish I'd had more time to join ya, but the "homefront" has been
needing my attention. Yup, the 'Ole Louie Ranch is REALLY coming
along nicely in the back yard dept., and as soon as we can get the pics
on CD I'll load up the results in our PRIVATE FORUM
for my fellow {NeW}Thugs
to behold. Perhaps if we can arrange it next summer, y'all should
come to Va. Beach for a little VISIT and we can enjoy a little LAN ACTION
along with the pool and hot tub :)
Moving right along,
I just want to say a little bit about the old dread "L" word. Y'all
know what I'm talking about here, it's the old friggin nemesis of any online
game - LAAAAAAG! Yeah folks, I'm aware of the issues. They
are being addressed as we speak, and I can assure you that it has NOTHING
to do with the PIPE that {NeW}EAST!
is connected too. It's PHAT. In the coming days I will be exploring
some alternatives to making our little slice of heaven less LAGGY and MORE
SECURE for your fraggin pleasure. Remember - ASSHOLES
are booted and banned from our SERVER,
but as of this writing, there is no way to notify said "ASSHOLES" via some
automatic message generation. They will just have to suck it up and
go spoil someone else's good time. If they are TRULY curious, they can
check out our {NeW}BANNED!
page and see if anything there applies to them. In the meantime,
have no fear, as the {NeW} is here!

Crew On-line! Wahoo Y'all! We sure do have us an ACTIVE FORUM
:) Yup, yours truly here stays away from the PC for a few hours and
I get TWO members
posting about my whereabouts LOL! It's all good y'all, and I promise
not to have a life without permission again OK? LOL! So anywhoo....another
solid week of activity with all warriors
checking in more than a few times each. Thanks Crew!
Moving right along, I've been noticing that some players aren't taking
advantage of the "VOTE FOR THE NEXT MAP" feature at the end of the round.
Now I believe I've already mentioned previously that the server setup for
a KP2 MOD server can
be "quirky", and it took me a long while to figure out how to even make
the damn feature work at all. (It doesn't recognize the same flagging
in the cfg file as a normal server does for vote enable). So, without
too much more tinkering, suffice it to say that if you press that little
old "F1" to see if you won the match, you LOSE the ability to go back and
VOTE. Now, I realize that this little bug SUCKS, because everyone
would rather see who won the round PRIOR to choosing a map to play, but
when I set that flag in the cfg, the VOTE option don't work :( SO
- here is the work around: You have 30 seconds or so before the server
loads the next map, so spend about 10 of those seconds deciding which map
you want to play next, VOTE FOR IT, and then spend the rest of the remaining
20 seconds admiring your portrait as the last round's WINNER OK? ROTF!
Due to the "uneven" voting habits, some maps that may not be as "deserving"
(so to speak) are getting loaded onto the choice of 8 repeatedly while
other fresher, newer maps are not making the list often enough. For
example, I will forever be in debt to Whoop_Ass
for stepping up to the plate and converting all FIVE original Xatrix DM
maps to the MOD, but we've all played those maps about a bazillion times.
So, to level out the choice of fraggin fields a bit, I am going to "reset"
the voting stats and give all of the latest maps a slightly higher vote
count than the older ones. Perhaps this will encourage those mappers
out there who like to see their work in rotation to make us some more :)

I know that this spot is USUALLY reserved for something funny or bizzare,
but I have to admit I was quite pleased with the outcome of a recent match
the other day. It seems as if somebody is really coming along in

and howdy to all NeW Eastern Warriors. Welcome to the 194th Edition
of the {NeW} news, your source for "watsup" with the {NeW}
Crew On-line! Well I hope everyone had a Happy Fourth! The wife
and I did manage to get a little swimming in, despite the fact that they
put off pouring the concrete until July 5th :( Yup, can you imagine
having a beautiful in-ground fiberglass swimming pool surrounded by SAND?!?!?!
UGH! It was supposed to be totally completed by now y'all, but they
STILL aren't finished. But at least they cleaned it out and setup
the filters and heater and such for us to swim a little bit. I'll
post pics for y'all once it's all done and nice looking :) So anyway, we've
had good times this week with ALL the Warriors checking into the SERVER
at various times. {NeW}Snake,
{NeW}Shock,
and I had a few good frags the other night. {NeW}VitaChick
missed out on that particular one, but she plays more often in the mornings,
so that's understandable. And now it seems poor old {NeW}Snake
has got the "burned out video card blues", so who knows how long it will
be before he gets that particular issue cleared up. I did get word
from him via email that he has his laptop hooked up, but now he can't seem
to get onto our FORUMS
with it :( Good luck with all of it brother and let me know if I
can help! Anyway, last Edition of the ole NeWs was all about the big "C"
word (cheating). This humble episode, however, is all about the big
"F" word. LOL! Get your mind out of the gutter, I'm referring
to the word "FLAMES".
And I'm not talking about the FLAMETHROWER here either folks. I'm
talking about inflammatory speech. As you all know, our little old
SERVER
has "Speech filter" enabled. It has been setup that way since the
day I started running it, and it's never gonna change. Now I can
assure all of you dear readers that Old
Lou here is NOT a "prude" so to speak, and my fellow Warriors already
know that I can cuss like a Sailor (and sometime do) LOL! But there
is a very good reason WHY I have that speech filter setup and I'm gonna
tell ya'll why now. When Kingpin first came out, about the only place
you could find an online game was in HEAT. For those who were there,
you remember vividly the heady days of 24 hour, seven day a week action.
Not that any of us were actually on "24/7", but at just about any hour
of the day or night you could find not only a GAME, but tons of folks hanging
out in the "chat room". Now whether you were actually playing, or
just kickin back watching the scrolling messages from all players in the
chat room lobby, what you found for the MOST PART were some fairly cool
folks. MOST of the chatter was all about "Hey Guys" or "Who wants
to play?" or "Let's start a private room" and such. To me, THAT was
a lot of fun. BUT, there were always a few folks out there
who for whatever reason, be it the profanity laced nature of the game itself,
or the fact that they were probably just 13 years old, enjoyed typing out
insults and cuss words. Now, I won't speak for all of you, but I
for one can only put up with seeing "You are GAY", or "You are a
pussy" or "He is a FAGGOT" or "SHE IS A CUNT" for about 15 seconds or so
before I start to feel like I am at some horrible county lockup for a crime
I did not commit. I'm just too old to want to be around that
kind of crap. I always HATED joining a server just wanting to do
some fraggin and having to see endless juvenille chatter between rivals
filling up my screen. I mean, it's just no fun to sit in a server
or a forum or a chat room and type out insults. IS IT? I mean
it is called a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, not a first person KEYBOARDIST.
It's not called "Kingpin-Life of a Typing Asshole", and so that is NOT
how the game should be played. So let me give you an example here
- the word "FUCK" is banned on the server.
Now I realize that it's only natural that when a player feels like he "messed
up" or did something stupid, he or she might want to express their regret
by typing "FUCK". However, from my experience, when that word is
enabled, it is most often used in the context of the phrase - "FUCK YOU".
Now, since I pay for the bandwidth, and I pay for the upkeep of the server
machine itself, I just don't think I deserve to be told "FUCK YOU".
Makes sense don't it? So that is why all members of the {NeW}
agree to play nice on the Server.
And since WE
all play nice on the server,
we expect all of our GUESTS
to play nice on the server.
So, to anyone out there in KP land that thinks it might be fun to join
{NeW}EAST!
and type out "FLAMES"
instead of just using the flamethrower to simply do some fraggin - NOW
you know why you may find yourself "removed" from our little battlefield.

of the {NeW} news, your source for "watsup" with the {NeW}
Crew On-line! First off let me say Happy Fourth Of July to my fellow
Warriors!
Hope y'all can take a few minutes away from the burgers and dogs to come
frag it up in the server! Speaking of fraggin it up, we've had good
participation levels this week from {NeW}Snake
and {NeW}VitaChick,
and, of course, a few rounds with yours truly here :) We got word
from {NeW}Shock in
our Forum
that real life "bidness" has been keeping him busy and "A.F.K.", but he
hopes to be fraggin some more this coming week. All in all good times
Y'all! Now, before we wrap things up I want to say a few words about
a subject matter that has been discussed at length here in our {NeW} NeWs
many times before. I'm talking about the dread "C" word. Yup
- you guessed it - CHEATING. Now, it goes without saying that the
{NeW}DON'T
CHEAT. It also goes without saying that the {NeW}DON'T
LIKE CHEATERS. Now I'm going to share a little secret with y'all
that probably isn't really a secret at all - there ARE cheaters out there
in KP land. The reason that we know this is because poor old KingPin
does NOT have "company support". We all know that Xatrix
flew the coop right after they made KP. We also all know that Interplay
is basically on life support itself, so they certainly don't offer us any
support against cheaters. The very best KP has to offer in terms
of protection is The Monkey
Mod, and it's last update was February 2006. So while we should
all be grateful for at least THAT update, it's a well known fact that new
cheats are discovered and exploited on an on-going basis. It is for this
reason that companies like "Valve"
(for example) have regular and on-going updates to their cheat
detection systems for Half-Life2. Truly the only comfort that
KingPin players have is the fact that we are a small
community, and so we trust that MOST of the players we enjoy gaming
with on a regular basis DON'T CHEAT. The downside of playing a game
with a small community is, however, that we all think that we are pretty
damn good at playing the game. So good, in fact, that when a player
comes along with a name that we don't recognize and they "spank our ass",
we INSTANTLY believe he or she is "Cheating". We think - "How in
the hell can this guy beat ME?!?!?!?" Or "I play this game every
day for 5 years and THIS GUY whips me bad?!?!?! He MUST be cheating!"
I tell ya folks, it reminds me of a MOTD I saw in a half life server one
time. It said "Remember, if the other guy beats you it's because
he's cheating! :)" It made me laugh out loud because it's TRUE.
That IS the way we think sometimes, and I myself am guilty as charged.
I'd like to think that after seven years of playing Kingpin I'm pretty
damn good. When a player comes along and soundly beats my ass, I
am AUTOMATICALLY suspicious. My fellow Warriors
know full well from our private forumconversations
whom I have suspected of cheating and why. They too have their own
personal list of suspected cheaters. But remember y'all, the key
word here is "SUSPECTED". I just don't like to "convict" someone
of cheating without some kind of hard evidence. I honestly believe
that if a player is actually cheating, it will be "observable" to all in
the playback of a recorded DEMO.
Perhaps I am too unfamiliar with how cheating works, or maybe I am just
ignorant about how Kingpin cheats are used since I've NEVER cheated, but
to me, it's sorta like that word "obscenity" - I can't define it but I
know it when I see it.
So - the bottom line
is this y'all. If you believe that someone is in {NeW}EAST!
cheating, do NOT accuse them of it. Simply record a DEMO
of you playing against them. If there are other players in the server,
then go into spec mode and chase the suspect AND his fellow opponents while
recording the DEMO. After
the game is over, go back and WATCH the DEMO
you recorded. Look for the "telltale signs" of cheating. Remember
- KingPin has a nifty "sound system" of player injuries. If they
are screaming in pain but lose no health points or armour points then.......well......you
get it. What I think you will see 99% of the time, is that what looks
like a "direct hit" from YOUR point of view is clearly a "miss" from the
opponents point of view. What looks like a pure and total soaking
of the player with flames to YOU may actually be "smoke and mirrors".
Of all the recent DEMOS I've
reviewed, I have YET to see an "A-HA!" moment. What I have seen thus
far has been some "tried and true" techniques used by successful Kingpin
players. For example - a lot of winning players do the whole "shoot
up every hallway and through every door no matter what" trick. The
logic behind this is that - there are other players in this map, so if
I throw enough fire power around every corner, someone is BOUND to be struck
(by accident). Now, I personally don't do this because it takes away
the "fun factor" for me, but record a few DEMOS
of those "KPDM5 Addicts" and you will see that THIS is what THEY do all
the time! Now, another "tried and true" tip for ya is - LEARN THE
MAPS INSIDE AND OUT! Most successful players know where #1)all the
armour is, #2)all the best weapons are, #3)all the health kits are, and
#4)the absolute BEST pathway or route to get to them. THIS "trick"
I use all the time. I am always on a path to "gear up" if no opponents
are visible. And finally, without writing an entire book on tips
and tricks, I like to play with my "FOV" set at about 115 (the default
is 90). With this setting, my "field of view" is unobstructed by
the weapon and arm and all I need to focus on is laying the crosshair on
the target. I learned this hint from {NeW}Crew
co-founder BuBonic - as he used it to beat my ass many, many times.
And how do I KNOW that he wasn't "cheating"? Because he came to my
private LAN PARTY many years back and allowed me to play on his machine.
It's true y'all. Four of us played Kingpin on a LAN with average
pings of "5" and the guy whipped me nearly everytime. Sometimes,
some people are just plain "better" than others at playing Kingpin.
I know for a fact that I am NOT the "best". I'm not even close!

We've had killa action on {NeW}EAST!

past week with ALL current Thugs
checkin in on a regular basis. Thanks Y'all! We've seen some
good participation from a few non-Crew members as well, which is always
good too :) Also, I'm happy to report that we've uploaded a few more
maps to our server
since the last edition, so to get all the details I suggest you visit our
FORUMS
page and d/l what ya need to get in on the action. When I get a chance,
I will be updating our FILES
page with appropriate links to all NeW KP2
MOD MAPS. Also of note is the fact that since our last edition,
{NeW}VitaChick
has been provided some KILLA {NeW} SKINZ to sport, which are available
for d/l on our SERVER.

Crew On-line! WOW! I made it back to Da NeWs :) Holy cow
Y'all, what a mess I made. First off - about a year ago my C Drive
nearly died. Before it finally kicked the bucket, I had my PC bud
come over and he successfully ghosted the C Drive onto a brand new drive.
Problem solved right? WRONG! We couldn't get my "F" drive to
work properly anymore. Big deal you say right? WRONG!
My "F" drive had all my programs like CuteFTP and Netscape Composer. CuteFTP
allows me to upload NeW content to our little webby here and Composer is
what I use to create the content on our little webby here. So, long
story short, I got motivated this morning and did some major surgury on
my old PC. The result? WAH HOOOOO! SO, we got a lot in
store now for the old {NeW}Crew webby. First things first - Da NEWS.
We got us TWO {NeW}Members :) Welcome aboard {NeW}Shock and {NeW}VitaChick!
You can see all of their ramblimgs on our FORUMS
page. In the coming days and weeks, I will be re-vamping our THUGS
page to remove old, M.I.A., retired, or otherwise lost members of the Crew.
I will then add our {NeW} members and clean up da hood a little bit :)
Then, I will be adding a shit-load of NeW KP2
MOD MAPS to our FILES
page. Of course, you can ALWAYS d/l them from KP4EVER
as well. So, I'm totally stoked about the possibilities! While

and howdy to all NeW Eastern Warriors. Welcome to the 190th Edition

Crew On-line! Well Folks, it's been a long time since an update
so I'll try to be as brief as possible. LOTS has happened since my
last update. I'm married now with a stepson. Work has been
crazy and homelife has been non-stop. Through it all I have managed
to keep the server up and running, but not much else. Anyway, we
recently got a post from {NeW}Motor
in our FORUMS
and in seems he is back and has been playing some KP. I also got
word from Mr.Damage over at KP4EVER
that former member {NeW}Spider
is back into KP and was looking for some missing textures for his old map
Club{NeW}.
Yours truly here gave him the hook-up with that. Let's hope Spider
can make us a KP2 version. Speaking
of KP2, there has been tons of action on
the server
lately, but my mighty ping usually runs them all off, so I don't join as
often as I would like. It sure would be nice if some of us
old {NeW}
players could get together some weekend afternoon and do some fraggin.

Anyway, I did play a few rounds this afternoon and I got a new screenie
for our semi-world famous PIC

Crew On-line! Well Folks, It's official....I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!!
Yup, the big day is November 18th (of this year) and then my beloved and
I will head down to New Orleans
for an extended weekend of debauchery
:) Now, any of you faithful readers of this here NeWs already know
that my bride-to-be already lives here and we are both raising her son,
but this will make everything "legit" and we are pleased. The Louie
Ranch Renovation project has sapped much of my time, money, and energy,
but I am pleased to report FINAL COMPLETION!!!! It's been well worth
it and I am glad to be finally done with contractors and repairmen and
chaos. I hope to soon be back to the regular KP
SERVER ACTION like I saw last weekend for the 3rd Annual Come Back
To Kingpin Weekend!
I was a bit disappointed
in the {NeW}Crew
turnout, but I also blame myself for not having the time and attention
for regular KP play as well. There will be other days, and I have
enjoyed games with {NeW}Snake
and {NeW}Motor within
the last month so........ Hey {NeW}Freeze,

Crew On-line! Well Folks, in addition to the {NeW}Crew being
FOUR YEARS OLD this month, I present to you yet another reason to
join us in the SERVER
- The 3rd Annual Come Back To Kingpin Weekend! Yup, as reported
by Mr. Damage over at KP4EVER:
"Yes that's right
the 3rd Annual Come Back To Kingpin Weekend is fast approaching. It's a
little later this year and will commence on Friday 29th October and
run through Saturday 30th.
If you have been visiting
this site for the last few years you will know that the Come Back to KP
weekend is when we want you all to jump in one of your local servers and
start playing as much KP as humanly possible and bring as many people with
you as you can :)
It's about bringing
players who used to play this great game back for that weekend (and maybe
getting them to stay on for a while) but also the opportunity to introduce
new players to the game as well.
So start spreading
the word now on your ICQ/MSN/Email lists. Contact old teammates, friends,
relatives, neighbors, ANYONE who has a copy of KP laying around to come
along for a few frags on the Come Back To KP Weekend on 29-30th of October.
If you all join in and spread the word who knows how many ppl we can get
playing that weekend.
If you know players
who haven't played for a while or need to reinstall KP then point them
towards the KP starter pack which contains the v1.21 patch and the Monkey
Mod client which you can grab from here.
If you want to surprise
someone with a copy of KP then check out the Buy Kingpin! page here.
If you plan to run
a server that weekend or have any other interesting news about it then
just let us know and we'll pass the news on.
It's still a about
three weeks away so there is plenty of time to get organised and start

1st) be FOUR YEARS OLD! Yup, it's hard to believe, but in just a
few short days, the {NeW} will mark four years of continuous activity
in the Kingpin Community. Scroll down to the bottom of this page
and click on the OLD
NEWS tab. Then scroll down to the bottom of THAT
page. There you will see "1st Edition 10/01/2000 " Can you
believe it?!?!?! Now, what we hoped to achieve back then was the
following (and I quote myself):

Well, as many of you
dear rearders know, I'm with COX CABLE and they have been (for the most
part) smooth sailing. I recently got an upgrade to the {NeW}EAST!
server line which guarantees an upload 590kbps and a download of 4.0 MB
for $79 per month. Not too shabby if you can get it :)

Crew On-line! Well Folks, the biggest NeWs this week is
in regards to our SERVER.
Yup, as many of you faithful readers may know, I have for several years
now endured the pure misery of paying through the nose for a halfway decent
upload on our beloved
{NeW}EAST! KP2 MOD SERVER.
Well THIS JUST IN! I have signed a new contract with Cox Business
Services which will guarantee me an upload of 512K for HALF of what I have
been paying! WAHOO!!! The download will be boosted in a major
way as well, but the main thing is that we will have a slightly higher
upload than what I had been previously "guaranteed" and I will be saving
money at the same time :) I just may increase the player load a bit
too! SWEET!
Moving right along,
I enjoyed several games with long time member and Loyal Thug {NeW}Motor
the other day! Yup, it was LABOR DAY here in the U.S.A., so I was
actually home on a Monday afternoon hehehe. To see the evidence,
I invite you to behold the latest and greatest semi-world famous

OF DA WEEK! I was glad we got a few good games in Brother, even though
my Ping was just "evil" LOL!
I have also noticed
in the Server Logs that Thug Sergeant {NeW}Snake
has been popping in as well! Always glad to see you fraggin Bud,
even if I wasn't there at the time hehehe. I haven't gotten the Step
Son's PC delivered yet, so I let him hog my machine to keep the peace if
you know what I mean. Hopefully he will be setup in his own room
next week and my fraggin Box will be ALL MINE!
