I only have this much on the De Witt family. I would very much like to learn more, but, aside from believing that Joseph Monroe De Witt was born in Tennessee, I have no clues. According to court documents, Monroe De Witt was unhappy with the man one of his daughters (I'm not sure which) was intending to marry. When she went ahead with the marriage, he walked out and never came back. Not only never came back but never hand any contact with his family, his friends, or anyone else of his acquaintance in Santa Cruz County. I would dearly love to find out what happened to him, but no luck so far.
