The MORENUS name was originally MARINES of Palatine origin. My branch of the family came from Schoharie Co, NY. Most of the family remained there, but Irvin moved to Elk Co, PA. One of his brothers joined him there. He married an Irish girl whose parents had immigrated to the U.S. during the potato famine and he made a farm. I have not been able to discover the immigrant ancestors for Peter or his wife Maria. My only knowledge of their history comes from the 1855 New York state census which states that he was born in Delaware Co and Maria was born in Albany Co.
