Comic Strips

Cross-over's - it's fun when your hobby interests overlap. For example, some of the cartoon strips were spun off into radio shows, and vice-versa.  The long running Gasoline Alley comic strip was the inspiration for a couple of short runs on the radio.  A very few samples of these episodes remain.  Another cross-over is when radio shows talk about comic strips, or when the comics talk about radio.

Gasoline Alley - February 21, 1931-  Phyllis thinks television will be worse than radio, Walt's not too sure.

Bringing Up Father - July 09, 1937 - Jiggs hires a detective to find Fifi.

Freckles - October 30, 1930 - It's music to Freckles, but his Dad hears noise.

Minute Movies - March 1st, 1929 - Ed Wheelen puts the radio genie back in the (ink) bottle.
