.  .  .  excerpts from the incomplete online scrapbook of Jake Turk, who is lost,  some where in America, sometime in 1940 .  .  .

I have been involved with computer systems all of my professional life.  Since I love what I do, it was natural to use these tools and skills in my hobbies as well.  Like so many of you, my computer is a doorway into the land of the Internet.  There, we are able to pursue our interests, learn amazing facts, and add many wonderful things to our collections.

On the Internet, I've made friends, shared experiences, and through their generosity, shared pieces of our history that fascinate me.  From the titles on the left you can see that my interests include old time radio (OTR) and comic strips.  I don't just collect those old radio shows and old comic strips, I savor them!  The history of the last century is captured in these visual and aural images.  We can step back to the 40's and experience that epic decade from the living room of Fibber McGee and Molly, and from Walt Wallet's neighborhood (AKA Gasoline Alley). We meet the residents of Pine Ridge through the voices of Lum and Abner.  We sit in Big Sis's living room and watch her deal with helping her Dad raise the family.  It is that simple time that some of us vaguely remember and some of us have only read or heard about.

I've ventured in and become lost, somewhere in America, sometime in 1930 or is it 1940? .  .  .

thanks for your sharing,    Jake Turk
