In May of '01 and '02 I made the pilgrimage to the annual Rec.aviation* Fly-in at Pinckneyville (PJY), Illinois.

For non-geeks, rec.aviation* is the name of a set of Internet groups on Usenet.  Folks drop in and chat, share aviation tips, and do a lot of hanger flying.   Having been active in the groups since '96, it was great to meet the folks that I'd previously known only in text form.

The fly-in is hosted annually by John and Mary Johnson in their hangar at the Pinkneyville Airport.  Why they would play host to a bunch of Internet pilots from around the country is beyond me, but they do a spectacular job and it is appreciated by all of us wandering pilots.
