The father of Joseph Adcock was apparently also named Joseph Adcock. According to an Adcock history written in 1924, he was born in England and came to the Colony of Virginia about 1745. Our Missouri connection begins with the arrival of the youngest son's family in Miller County in 1836. I am searching for additional information about the Ancestors and Descendants of:
JOSEPH ADCOCK born about 1725 in England, died about 1805 in Buckingham County, Virginia. His youngest son was:
JOSEPH ADCOCK born on 11 August 1775 in Virginia, died 1825 in Virginia, married in Virginia about 1796 to JUDITH JONES born on 31 August 1775 in Buckingham County, Virginia, died on 02 July 1858 in Miller County, Missouri. After her husband Joseph died in Virginia in 1825, Judith and her six children moved to Smith County, Tennessee and lived there about four years. Daughter JUDITH ANN ADCOCK soon met and married JOSEPH D. TAYLOR and they shortly moved to Miller County, Missouri. Mother Judith with her three sons and remaining two daughters then moved to Simpson County, Kentucky. While living in Kentucky, son JOSEPH SAMUEL ADCOCK met ELIZABETH A. FUQUA (of Logan Co, Kentucky) and was married within a short time. In the spring of 1836, Mother Judith and her two remaining sons and two remaining daughters moved from Simpson County, Kentucky to Miller County, Missouri. Son JOSEPH SAMUEL ADCOCK and family moved to Miller County about 1851.

2. JOSEPH SAMUEL ADCOCK, SR. born on 03 December 1799 in Virginia, died on 26 October 1863 in Miller County, Missouri, married 1) in Logan County, Kentucky on 22 August 1822 to ELIZABETH A. FUQUA born on 15 March 1805 in Buckingham County, Virginia, died on 21 August 1856 in Miller County, Missouri. Joseph, married 2) on 25 August 1857 in Logan County, Kentucky to Mrs. MARY CAROLINE "Polly" CLAYTON nee MADOLE born on 14 December 1802 in Pendleton County, South Carolina, died on 25 January 1874 in Miller County, Missouri.

2c. MOSES FUQUA ADCOCK born in November 1830 in Logan County, Kentucky, married 18 August 1854 in Johnson County, Missouri to MARY THEODOCIA THOMPSON FUQUA born in 1837 in Kentucky, died 03 February 1911.
